StructureD 2000 The Ordered Laves Phases CeNi4Cd and LnCu4Cd (Ln: Ho, Er, Tm, Yb). — The

title compounds are synthesized by induction-melting of stoichiometric mixtures of the elements (sealed Ta tubes, ≈1170 K, 1 min) and subsequent annealing (970 K, 4 h). The isotypic compounds crystallize in the space group F43m with Z = 4 (MgCu4Sn-type structure), as revealed by powder and single crystal XRD. The Ni and Cu atoms build up three-dimensional networks of corner-sharing Ni4/2 and Cu4/2 tetrahedra.
