Background…• As we know, the Weimar

government were in a weak position

• They had experienced revolt in Berlin and had little support

• Adolf Hitler was someone who wanted to take advantage of this weak position…

• Hitler had found himself as the leader of a small party called the German Workers’ Party

• Their name changed to the NSDAP (or Nazis)

• The group planned a putsch, or takeover, which he would lead

• They would take over Bavaria first, followed by the rest of Germany

Who supported the Munich Putsch?

• General Ludendorff, WWI military hero

• The SA, or ‘brownshirts’, a paramilitary group attached to the Nazi party

hall where Von Kahr, head of Bavaria was speaking and put a gun to his head

2. He announced he was taking over Bavaria

3. The next day Hitler and other Nazis marched through Munich and were arrested
