BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHEDRAL
Mother Church and Parish of the Diocese of Greensburg The Most Holy Trinity
June 7, 2020
Coat of Arms of The Most Reverend
Edward C. Malesic, J.C.L. Bishop of Greensburg
Our Return to Public Masses With the input and guidance from clergy, lay leaders, and state and regional healthcare professionals, Bishop Edward C. Malesic, has announced that public weekday Masses can recommence on June 1, 2020 while following all specific guidelines for cleaning and sanitization of the Sacred Space after each use. So, starting on June 1, 2020 daily Mass will recommence in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Church at 11:45 AM on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Seating for weekday Masses will be reserved to the white plastic/metal chairs to facilitate cleaning.
Daily Masses which are not said in the Church building will be live streamed from the Cathedral’s temporary chapel. We hope to live stream all daily Masses whether in Church or the chapel going forward. We will live stream one of the Sunday Masses each week as well. Additional Sunday Liturgies will be added as we can accommodate cleaning. For the time being, we will need Friday to do a thorough cleaning of the Church to prepare for our weekend services. Masks are required of anyone entering the Church at any time and should be worn the entire time you are in any part of the Church building.
Private Prayer The Church will be open for private prayer on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM and on Sunday’s after Mass until 3:00 PM.
Mass Obligation Dispensed & Live Streaming to Continue For the foreseeable future, all people remain dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.
Those who are vulnerable due to age or health are encouraged to stay home. If you are sick, you should not attend public Mass. Therefore, we hope to continue to live stream all of our Masses and post them to YouTube whether they are in the Church or the temporary Chapel.
Temporary Weekend Mass Schedule To accommodate proper sanitation, our weekend Mass schedule has been modified. Beginning the weekend of June 6/7 the new weekend Mass schedule for Blessed Sacrament Cathedral is: Saturday at 4:00 PM Sunday at 10:00 AM
What Will Happen When You Come to Mass All entrances will be open. Mass attendees must wear a mask at all times, including while approaching for Holy Communion. Please bring your own mask. If you do not have one, we hope to have some disposable masks available. Please bring your own personal hand sanitizer. Please wash or sanitize your hands prior to entering the Church. Please respect social distancing and spacing of 6 ft. if others are present. Limit touching surfaces, including the statues. For the health and well-being of others, please do not enter any pews or areas that are blocked off. Follow the directions of the staff. Please do not socialize in the Church building before or after Mass.
Keeping in our prayers and trusting that God will bring to their families comfort in
the days ahead, we commend to your prayers the souls of
Msgr. Donald J. Mondello
Joseph M. Malloy, Jr. Mary L. Kocian
Emily D. Wisneski
Our parish community extends its deepest sympathy to their families on their loss.
Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls rest in peace. Amen.

Cathedral Care Envelope
Every month in the regular collection envelope packets, there is a white envelope which says “Cathedral Care”. Many of you send this envelope in every month with your regular donation and it is very much appreciated. Some of you may be wondering what this Cathedral Care mon-ey is used for; here are just a few of the things: boiler and air conditioner repairs, painting of the rectory offices, spring landscaping and tree removal, Formation Center upkeep. There are many things that need repaired in old buildings such as those on the Cathedral properties. Your generous donations to Cathedral Care allow us to take care of these needs before they become a more costly problem.
In order to meet our budgetary needs, Blessed Sacrament Ca-thedral requires an average of $18,000 per week in the regular offertory collection. Sunday Offertory $13,568.00 Ascension Thursday $719.00 Cathedral Care $885.00

The Gospel in Everyday English
This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him” (from John 3). Prepare the Word
