Introduction Early in 1996

-the Ministry of Education wasinvolved in intense discussion about

“SmartSchools”: the concept and its

implications on theMalaysian education system

Late 1996

-the Smart School had become one of the seven flagship applications of the Multimedia Super Corridor.

Introduction January 1997

-the Ministry of Education conceptualized the vision of the Malaysian Smart School in the document “Smart Schools in Malaysia

February 1997 to June 1997-team comprised by industry

representatives, Multimedia Development Corporation officers, and officers of the Ministry of Education, worked at

producing the Blueprint of the Malaysian Smart School.

Introduction

-the team was charged with the task of proposing the necessary guidelines for launching the Smart School.

is a learning institution that has been systemically reinvented in terms of teaching-learning practices and school management in order to prepare children for the Information Age
