A 94/6 blend, the Viognier componentis best described as seen but not heard. TheShiraz does the leg work nicely. Dense fruitis generous yet soft aromas play out a neatyin and yang effect. A whiff of caramel addsanother dimension. Dark berries, plums andchocolate - there's a firmness yet it softensat the same time. The soils play their partwith a subtle minerally drive. Brick dusttannins slide through beautifully. Oh, I likethee. Drink now to a decade+

Earthier than the 2013, with moist beetrootchocolate cake, grilled stone fruit beforehitting the McLaren Vale button with sweetraspberry, cardamom and black pepperspice. The light and shade is rightlybalanced: Silky up front (maybe the alcoholis a touch higher than stated) with plenty ofgrunt supplied by gravelly tannins. A verygood wine.
