4. Field Period ™In 1942, a Keuka College graduate and

administrator named Edith Estey ’33 created Field Period, and it has been the cornerstone of the College ever since.

The 3 Main Components of Field Period™

A Self-Initiated Placement: The student figures out where they would like to do Field Period, and our resources will help them set it up.

An Intensive Learning Experience: The minimum time requirement for Field Period is 140 hours, but many students exceed that amount.

A Multi-Faceted Evaluation: After Field Period is over, students are evaluated through a site supervisor’s evaluation, a self-evaluation, handing in a reflective journal, writing a Field Period summary paper, providing some sort of unique documentation, and giving a presentation. (Earns 3 Credits)
