Messiah Code

Ezekiel 39:27ff

Ezek 39:27  When I have brought them back from the nations and have gathered them from the countries of their enemies, I will be proved holy through them in the sight of many nations. 28 Then they will know that I am the LORD their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind. 29 I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the people of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD.”

Messiah CodeJoel 2:28-

29

Joel 2:28 “And afterward,    I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy,    your old men will dream dreams,    your young men will see visions.29 Even on my servants, both men and women,    I will pour out my Spirit in those days.

What Kind of Power in Acts 1

Holy Spirit Power for Witness

dunamis

Potential for functioning in some way, able, capability, might, strength, force, power.

In a specific sense, depending on context, it means “the power that works wonders.”

signs and wonders confirming the gospel

According to Luke, the witness of the Spirit frequently takes the form of signs and wonders which are evidence of the Spirit’s activity and therefore the Messianic Age. (Compare Josephus Antiquities xx. 168)

Trites, Allison A., The New Testament Concept of Witness, p. 149

Hebrews 2:3-4 3 how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. 4 God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. (NIV)

Pauline Views of Power

The Apostle Paul in AD: The Bible Continues

Romans 1:1616 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. (NIV)

1 Corinthians 1:1818 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (NIV)

2 Corinthians 4:7

7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. (NIV)

2 Corinthians 12:10

10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (NIV)

What About Us Today?

Do we have the same power as the early Christians while we share the Good News about Jesus?

•There are many methods, times, and/or formats •Traditional Format = One-on-One Bible Study

Some Points to Ponder

•There is no timeline.•Don’t make it a project.

•If you are not comfortable by yourself, partner with another like minded Christian.

Some Points to Ponder

•Don’t forget to pray•For Yourself•For the Person

•It is NOT up to you. You are the witness. God thru His Spirit is the one who convicts and saves.

Some Points to Ponder

What About Us Today?

Do we have the same power as the early Christians while we share the Good News about Jesus?

•I’m not going to tell God what He can and can’t do through His Holy Spirit.•My part is through prayer. It’s up to Him to answer however, He chooses.•If we focus on performing some miraculous sign, remember that Paul tells us there’s a better way.

I Cor 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Kingdom Power is more potent than any power that can be mustered against us. What are the weapons of our Kingdom Power?•Radical Love and Forgiveness•Servanthood•Non-retaliation•Praying for enemies•Humility
