Building on the success of Working With Gangs andYouth Violence Conference for social workers in2017, we are delighted to present a conference anddevelopment day for social workers to consider twocurrent and prevalent issues in this field: County linesand rural Violence and Social Media and the impacton youth violence with specialist speakers andinteractive workshops.

Solomon Griffiths is the director and founder of 5 StepsForward CIC. Solomon is a consultant, mediator andmentor with over 10 years’ experience, working with highrisk offenders and gang members. Solomon also hasexperience of work within prisons and youth offending.Solomon is well known for his work within the WestMidlands for his services and is amongst some of the bestin promoting anti-youth violence.

Craig Pinkney is a Criminologist, Urban Youth Specialist,Lecturer and Director of Real Action UK, an outreachorganisation based in Birmingham, which specialises inworking with disaffected youth. Craig will talk about hismost recent publication “Gangs, music and themediatisation of crime: Expressions, violations andvalidations” in his keynote, and what this means forfrontline practitioners.
