“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,

no mind has conceived what God has prepared for

those who love him”– 1Corinthians 2:9

1.WHO DOES GOD SAY YOU ARE?

When he lies, he speaks his native language, for

he is a liar and the father of lies.

– John 8:44

I am a child of God.   (John 1:12)

I am a branch of the true vine (John 15:1, 5)

I am a friend of Jesus.  (John 15)

I am justified and redeemed.

(Romans 3:24)

My old self was crucified with Christ, and I am no longer a slave to sin.  (Romans 6:6)

I am a new creature in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

My body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who

dwells in me.  (1 Corinthians 6:19)

I am no longer a slave, but a child and an heir.

(Galatians 4:7).

I have been set free in Christ.

(Galatians 5:1)

I am chosen, holy, and blameless before

God. (Ephesians 1:4)

Because of God’s mercy and love, I have been made alive with

Christ.  (Ephesians 2:4-5)

I have been brought near to God by the blood of Christ.

 (Ephesians 2:13)

God loves me and has chosen me.

(1 Thessalonians 1:4)

I am God’s workmanship created to produce good works.

(Ephesians 2:10)

2.WHERE DOES GOD HAVE YOU?

Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected

him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look

at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

– 1 Samuel 16:6-7

Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.” So Samuel took

the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the

Lord came powerfully upon David. – 1 Samuel 16:12-13

we do not want you to be ignorant about those who

fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no

hope.– 1 Thessalonians 4:13

‘No good thing does he withhold from those

who walk uprightly’– Psalm 84:11

3.What’s Next?

Why would we like more elders?

The Bible seems to use several different words

when it refers to an elder - can you explain more about

that?

What is the biblical pattern for the eldership?

What do elders look like?  Qualifications

What do elders do?  Roles and Responsibilities

Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble

task.

1 Timothy 3:1
