The Anatomy of a Drum Filter

Theory of Operation ∆ Dirty air is introduced into

the Drum Filter Enclosure

∆ The Main System Fan pulls the air across the filter media

∆ The dirty particles are vacuumed off the media by vacuum nozzles in the drum chamber

∆ Dirty particles are then returned to the process or collected in an off-line collector

1. Dirty air into enclosure

2. Main System Fan pulls across the filter media

3. Dirty media is vacuumed by nozzles

4. Dirty particles are returned to process or collected in off-line machine

Drum Filter System Styles Ibis offers the following drum filters:

Outside Drive (which can be CE certified): All drive components are

located outside the Drum Filter Enclosure.

G-3 concept: Outside Drive Drum Filter system designed specifically for OSHA,

NFPA, and ATEX compliance.

Inside Drive (which can not be CE certified). All drive components are

located inside the enclosure.

Design features of G-3 Drum Filter Δ Designed to help meet requirements from NFPA, ATEX, CE, FM, OSHA, etc.

Δ “Clean Floor” design and smooth enclosure interior to prevent dust accumulation.

Δ No electrical components or connections within the airstream

Δ All potential spark generating issues resolved

Δ Hydrex media: 85% to 10 micron efficiency

Δ Large Radius Elbow Duct Connection points for improved Airflow

Additional Stages of Filtration (Optional)

Δ Stage 2: Pocket Filter, up to 80% efficiency > 5 Micron

Δ Stage 3: Pleated Bag Filter, up to 95% efficiency > 1 Micron

Δ Stage 4: HEPA Filter, up to 99.99% efficiency > .3 Micron

Sealed Rotary Valve (SRV) Δ Custom CAM design

Δ Can clean one or two nozzle positions at a time

Δ Connected to variable speed drive

Δ Positive sealing discs with self cleaning features

Poppet Valve Δ Controls flow of air and

material through ducting

Δ Internal disc provides positive seal

Δ 4-way solenoid operated pneumatic valve governs cylinder travel

Δ Wide range of pneumatic components available

Δ Design allows for custom cleaning program Airflow

Pneumatic Manifold Δ For 2-8 position drum filter systems

Δ Multiple Diverter Valves allow for sequential cleaning of one position at a time

Δ Wide range of pneumatic components available

Fire Protection Δ Typically we use standard threaded NPT pipe that is customized to fit

your drum filter, but customized solutions are possible.

Optional Components Δ Ibis Drum Filter Systems can be modified extensively into different

configurations to fit your needs. Some of the additional components we offer are:

Δ Contamination Collectors to collect foreign material that may enter lines.

Δ Customizable Fire Protection and Pneumatics Panels for Fire Protection and all Pneumatics Controls

Δ Nozzle Fan Filters

Δ Deluge Systems

Δ Dry Chemical Systems

Δ Inlet Pressure Control

Δ Drum Rotation Monitoring

Δ Cyclone

Cyclone ∆ Used in systems where dust is not

returned to the process

∆ Removes dust and particles from airstream using vortex separation

∆ Airlock available

Bleed Valves Δ Maintains proper filter airflow

when servicing multiple production machines

Δ Wide range of pneumatic components available

Δ Cylinder position sensors

Δ Sealed blade

Δ Adjustable slide gate damper

Δ Protective safety guards

Contamination Collector Δ Inline, manual collector

Δ Traps the following materials:

Δ Large pieces of non-woven

Δ Back Sheet

Δ Tissue

Δ Any other additional foreign objects

Δ Sensor tells operator when full

Δ Internal basket changeable while line is running.

* A more compact design with Jacobs or DIN angle ring Flange connection can be added
