CMP 2003

• Construction proposalSubmitted October 2003 (G Jeffress)

• DNR received funding in December 2004• Replacement platforms:

– Seadrift – March 05– Port O’Connor – March 05– Rollover Pass – April 05– Port Mansfield – May 05– Baffin Bay – May 05– Development of rapid deployment water

level monitoring platform

CMP 2004

• Construction proposalSubmitted October 2004 (J Rizzo)

• Selected for funding• Replacement plarforms

– Packery Channel– Texas Point– Port Aransas– Port Arthur– Data collection site in Rio Grande

Valley

CMP 2005

• To be submitted in October 2005 (J Rizzo)

• Data and Information ProposalTo upgrade TCOON with the latest technology available as approved by NOAA/NOS/CO-OPS. Proposed the collection of data in near real-time to be provided to Emergency Management, Coastal Resource Management, local, state, and Federal agencies. The replacement DCP’s have been approved by NOAA/NOS/CO-OPS.

To purchase 15 new DCP and assorted replacement parts/pieces for TCOON.

Total CMP 2005 budget should be around $150K.

Collaboration with NOAA

NOAA to replace 50 DCP’s with new Sutron X-PERT systems in FY 2005, 35 DCP’s in the Great Lakes and 15 NWLON DCP’s.

January 05 J Rizzo proposed that DNR would replace all 7 NOAA/NWLON DCP’s at no cost to NOAA and noContract modification would be required.

In return, NOAA would relinquish the 7 Sutron 9000removed to be added to the TCOON inventory.

Relocation of Houston/Galveston Data Acquisition System

• DNR will be relocating the data collection system at the COE in Galveston to the NWS/Emergency Management Center in Dickinson, Texas.

• Antenna is installed and DNR is awaiting the go ahead to install the radio and DAS.

• NWS will be providing network access to the DAS

TCOON Real-Time Network

• DNR is in the process of making “All” TCOON data available via the internet in near Real-Time. Data collection sites in Port Arthur, Galveston, Port O’Connor, and Los Fresnos will relay the data collected at their respective locations back to the database at TAMUCC as soon as the data are collected.

• DNR will process and post the data on the DNR - TCOON web pages as soon as it’s processed.

• This will make the TCOON the first state coastal real-time data collection network in the country.

• Data will be available and invaluable to private, local, state, and federal agencies as well as promote public safety.
