• There is no substitute for hard work and effort.

THE IMPORTANCE OF CONSISTENCY
Use it or Lose it
• Aim to spend 10 mins per lesson each day reviewing and summarising
• Approx 2 hours each weekend reviewing the weeks work.
STUDY SKILLS
• Our brain is wired for temporary information• Once information is repeated our brain says “I better
remember that”
• Use it or lose it!
• Within 24 hours of learning – 10 mins/hour of learning to review / re read / vocalise and summarise – this will keep 100% of the information in your brain for a week• Review after a week – 5 minutes to reactivate• Review after a month 2-4 minutes to reactivate
THE FLIP SIDE
• If you don’t review on a regular basis you will need 40-50 minutes per hour of learning completed to reactivate the information
• Review by recitation, summarising and reading materials out LOUD
• You remember 80% of what you say and do

MINDFULNESS
• During periods of stress or when you feel overwhelmed. Mindfulness is a positive technique to regaining perspective.
Mindful interrupters• Get up and go and do something else• Do something nice for someone else• Mindful moment• Stressed? Acknowledge it. Out loud: “This is
difficult.” Then ask yourself: What do I need?
