With state testing on the horizon (in our upper grades), this provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to demonstrate what they have learned this year. With consistent attendance and good study habits...mixed with adequate rest and good nutrition...our students will be prepared to do their very best!
Speaking of giving your best, I want to take this opportunity to thank our PTO for their commitment, time, creativity, collaborative spirit, and generosity this year! This partnership and working relationship we have established has tremendously benefited our students and staff, especially in the area of Literacy.
I look forward to a strong and productive finish to this school year. As always, it is great to be a Titan!
This is a FREE end of the year thank you event! Come enjoy the movie plus free popcorn and water (until supplies last). A DJ will provide entertainment and Kona Ice and Treetz will provide dessert! Bring chairs, blankets and a picnic dinner and celebrate the end of a wonderful school year! Please no pets or alcoholic beverages.

Butterfly GardenMrs.Rodgers,2ndgradeteacher,is working with volunteers from Gardening on the Cay on a beautiful butterfly garden. More details on this fun and exciting project will be in the May newsletter.
Field dayField Day will be held on Thursday, April 6th & Friday, April 7th
We are planning two amazing days for all to enjoy and we need your help again this year with our stations. If you feel so inclined, we could use: 7.5 oz. mini can sodas. Publix has been such a tremendous sponsor of our Field Day event this year; if it works for you, shop there for the sodas. We will have a place designated for donated sodas right outside the gym door. These sodas will be drinks for volunteers and teachers throughout the day.
The TCES PE Department is so grateful to have such a fantastic community to help put on this fun day for our kids! Thank you to Mrs. Scott, Mr. Rice and Laura Bogucki for all of your help on this event. To sign up to volunteer, please visit www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0b45acae2ca6fa7-tces3

Quilt display in our Media Center The quilts in the media center are from the Chattahoochee Evening Stars Quilt Guild in Alpharetta, Georgia. The members make small quilts based on children’s books and loan them to schools along with the books. Their purpose is to promote quilting as an art and of course literacy. Some of the books correlated with Black History Month with the connection between the Underground Railroad and symbols found in quilts of the time that would help lead the way
to freedom. The art teacher used one with her classes and had the students create a paper “quilt” with geometric patterns. I think she still has it displayed if you want to take a picture of it.

During classroom guidance lesson this month the counselors will be discussing personal safety including keeping you and your body safe. This will be done differently at each grade level. However, the overall focus is to help students recognize the importance of asking for help in situations where they are made to feel uncomfortable. Open communication can help your child to develop the appropriate skills necessary in maintaining their own safety. It is important your child know who they can talk with if they are put in an uncomfortable situation. For more information about the importance of educating our children on this topic please visit the Erin’s Law webpage—www.erinslaw.org or visit the Darkness to Light webpage www.d2l.org

• Learnaboutyourchildren’sinterests—for example, favorite music and activities—and show interest in them.
• Initiateconversationsbysharingwhat you have been thinking about rather than beginning a conversation with a question.
let your kids know you’re listening• Whenyourchildrenaretalking

a healthy connection between you and your children. But parenting is hard work and maintaining a good connection with teens can be challenging, especially since parents are dealing with many other pressures. If you are having problems over an extended period of time, you might want to consider consulting with a mental health professional to find out how they can help.
