Creating Monthly PDF Assignments

From our Class Website, each month students select, download, and print pdf assignments.

Step Two:Choose a topic for research.September - Varied

March - Clouds

April - Birds

May - Insects

Allow me to share just a few of my mistakes!

Levels of difficulty -

Changed to -

Multiple topics - confusing and time consuming

Changed to single topic - completion of task & allowed time for students to explore within the database

Login to the database.

Scroll down the topics list or

enter a topic in the search bar.

Once a main topic is selected,

a number of subtopics pop up.

Using the subtopics as your source,

formulate your questions according to the levels.

Remember: Each level increases in

difficulty.

type the questions you wrote from your own database research.

Download and save your document as a pdf.

Find the folder and open it.

Our district’s server hosts our media files. Below are some open source websites.

Ask if your school has a hosting site. If not, go to a free, open-source and use one of

those.

From our school server, we go to

USERS.

Find your Username.

If you are not listed, contact your technology department and ask for one.

From my user site, I click on the + sign to add a newentry and upload my pdf assignments,

After logging in, you’ll get a pop-up box asking for a title for your new entry.

Delete the placeholder and enter your own text introducing the Monthly PDF Assignment.

Images can also be added to this entry.

When you have finished with your entry, choose the icon that indicates “attach a file”. A pop-up window will allow

you to browse your files for your pdf.

Find the folder and open it.

Select the pdf and choose “open”.

The file location appears in the File box.Choose Attach.

Repeat this process until all three documents are attached. Then click Save.

To link to your website, put your cursor on top of each document and right click. Choose “Copy Link Location”.

This will be the hyperlink that you

attach at your website.

So let’s go to the website.

Once you select the target of the link and the icon to attach the url . . .

...you will get a pop-up box. Paste the url address. I like to open my pdf in a new

window. Update/insert.

Once everything is saved, we just need

Children!

Students will go to the website...

...click on A, B, or C.

A pop-up box will appear asking if they

would like to Open with Preview.

Choose OK.

When the file opens, students go to file and from the drop down, choose print.

Students retrieve the printed document and follow the links to the database website. Login and begin to fulfill
