Pluto By: Tatsuya Ochi

What does Pluto mean in Greek?

Pluto was thought to be the god to whom all men must eventually. Romans believed him to be to be the god of the underworld. His name in Greece was Hades.

Where is it located?

Pluto is the ninth planet from the sun. At this distant, the sun and Asteroid belt look very small.

Is it an outer planet or inner planet?

It is outer planet.

What is Pluto made of?

It is made of Nitrogen ice.

What is Pluto’s atmosphere made up of?

It is made up of methane and nitrogen.

What is the average temperature on Pluto?

The average temperature is -234°C.

What is the diameter of Pluto?

Pluto diameter is 2, 390 kilometer .

How long does it take Pluto to orbit to the sun?

It is about 90,466 day.

Interesting facts

Pluto revolves around the sun in an orbit that is not exactly circular like a rest of the planet. Rather, Pluto orbit is more of an oval or egg shape. Because of this, Pluto will orbit inside of Neptune’s orbit, which makes Pluto closer Sun than Neptune at time.

What does Earth mean in Greek?

In astronomy mythology. Her Greek name was Gaea. Earth was the mother of the mountains, valleys, streams and land formations. She was married to Uranus.

Where is it located?

Earth is the third planet.

Is it an inner or outer planet?

It is inner planet.

What is earth made of?

It is made of by Silicate.

What is Earth’s atmosphere made up of?

Earth’s atmosphere made up of nitrogen, oxygen and argon.

What is average temperature on Earth?

Earth’s temperature is 7.2°C

How many moon does Earth have?

Earth have 1 moon.

What is the diameter of Earth?

The diameter of Earth is 12,755 kilometer.

How long does it take earth to orbit the Sun?

Earth’s orbit to the Sun is 365.3 days.

Interesting facts

Scientists use the Earth to study all the other planet. Since no human has ever visited another planet, we have to use what we know about the Earth, and try to guess what the other planet must be like. This is called Comparative Planetology.

Comparing

Distant from the Sun of Earth is 150 million kilometers. But Pluto’s one is 5,869 million kilometer that is very big different.

So average temperature of Earth is 7.2°C. On contrary , average temperature of Pluto is -234°C. Pluto is very cold.

The other big differences is volume of planets. The volume of Pluto is one percent of Earth. Because the mass of Pluto is only 0.02 percent of Earth. Pluto is a planet which is colder, smaller and lighter than earth.
