TABLE ROCK

Table Rock Wilderness is part of an area de-scribed as the Old Cascades—or Cascade foot-hills—formed long before the snowcapped peaksof the high Cascade Range rose into the Oregonskyline. The vegetation of the Wilderness, and thesurrounding area, is typical of the diverse land-scapes of north Oregon’s Cascade foothills.

Table Rock Wilderness was designated a part ofthe National Wilderness System in1984. It is the last large area--5,786acres--of pristine forest land in theMolalla River drainage. Its steep, rugged terrain, towering basalticcliffs, spectacular vistas, brilliantwildflowers, diverse wildlife and unique history combine to create adistinctive wilderness experience.A 16-mile system of trails, suitable for horse trav-el and hiking, extends along the prominent ridgeswithin the Wilderness.
