Ph. D Research Project
My Ph.D. thesis bears the title ‘Efficacy of DTP vaccine and development of methodologies for rapid detection and identification of microbes’ under the supervision of Professor Dr Habib Ali Bokhari and co-supervision of Professor Dr Arshad Saleem Bhatti.
Current Research Projects and activities
Molecular characterization of Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from skin and soft
tissue infections cases (Funded by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan). The
project involves isolation and identification of S. aureus strains from skin and soft tissue
infections from patients attending tertiary care hospitals in Hazara Division. The strains
are further subjected to antibiotic sensitivity testing and molecular typing by PFGE and
MLST in a collaborating lab in China.
Surveillance of MRSA carriage by oultry and fish and genotyping of the isolated strains
in collaboration with Dr. Charlene Jackso of Agricultural Research Service USA.
Carbapenem resistance in Gram negative bacteria In collaboration with Patrice Nordman
of University of Fribourg Switzerland). Efficacy of DTP vaccine against pertussis disease
in Pakistan.
