Master of Supply
Chain Management
Class of 2008
It’s not just about the truck.
The global supply chain is as much about moving information
and services as it is about moving goods. Moving customer
account data from Mumbai to New York requires as much
competent supply chain management as does moving
microprocessors from Phoenix to Berlin. The supply chain
embraces the entire life cycle of goods and services. It touches
every function of global commerce. Business leaders view it as
the central nervous system of the global economy.
Supply chain management encompasses marketing, sourcing,
manufacturing, logistics, inventory management, information
technology and customer relations. It’s about the people,
processes and technology that propel products through the
global economy. No wonder supply chain management has
become a key component of business strategy.
That’s why companies are increasingly looking for innovative
leaders with the vision and skill to manage their supply chains.
No other business school ranked in the top 5 by both BusinessWeek and The WallStreet Journal currently offers a comprehensive one-year MSCM degree.
• A team-based summer project will give you real-world
experience with one of the school’s corporate partners.
• You will be taught by faculty in the Ross School’s world-
renowned Operations and Management Science department.
• You may choose electives in Strategy, Finance, Marketing
and other disciplines.
In short, the Ross MSCM offers a rigorousaction-based learning experience dedicated tothe dynamic field of supply chain managementat one of the world’s top business schools.

Ross MSCM CurriculumBroad-Based and Relevant
The one-year Ross MSCM program consists of a Winter term and a Fall term. Between
the terms, you will participate in a team-based summer project sponsored by a company.
Your Ross experience will begin with an introduction to basic business disciplines such as
accounting, economics, finance, marketing and organizational behavior. You will also
have the opportunity, if necessary, to review some basic quantitative skills.
Action-Based Learning
A distinctive feature of the Ross MSCM program is the integration of the summer project
into your curriculum. You will be part of a team executing a project with faculty
supervision. In the Winter, you will prepare for an assignment developed in concert by
faculty and a corporate sponsor so that you and your peers can hit the ground running,
arriving at your internship site as a cohesive team skilled in communications and project
management. During the summer, your team will work on site to address a real-world
business challenge identified by your sponsor. When you return to campus in the Fall,
you will engage in a detailed review and evaluation of your project.
This action-based learning experience lets you work on real-world assignments that range
from strategic analysis and supply chain audits to supply chain design issues and
distribution challenges.
That’s the Ross approach. Action-based learning gives you adistinctive educational experience and unsurpassed preparation to assume a leadership role in supply chain management.
