CARA APA CentreAward Winners 2014

We are delighted to be the CARA APA Centre Inclusion Award winners for 2014. We are the first and only primary school in Ireland to receive this award which has recognised our efforts for inclusion in PE among all in our school community.

National Award Winners!

In our school, we aim to offer our children a holistic education. We encourage all our children to achieve to the best of their abilities.

We recognise sport and physical education as a fundamental role in the lives of young children and have worked hard to ensure active play is part and parcel of everyday school life for all here in St. Raphael’s.

All For One and One For All!

We have an Active School Committee in the school. Each day these children give classes equipment to play with on yard that encourages them to play together and have fun!

Equipment was selected on the basis that it was accessible for all children in the school to use.

We are an Active School!

The staff recognise the importance of training and upskilling in the area of PE for children, particularly inclusive PE. We have received Buntús training and attended an inclusive PE workshop.

Teacher Training

Six teachers from the school also completed a disability inclusion training workshop.

As well as having an array of equipment, we also have a PE shelf in the staff room, full of ideas to support teachers teaching any strand of the PE curriculum.

PE Resources

The school offers an array of sports to children throughout the year, such as football, boxing, tennis, cycling, GAA, basketball, etc.

Sport through School

The children always look forward to our school sports day which emphasises fun through cooperative play.
