WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OUR PARISH
St. Mary’s Parish is undergoing some
renovations. We are having our ceiling painted
and the interior brick walls
of the church cleaned. Masses will continue
during this time in the Parish Centre.
You are welcome to pray at the Blessed Sacrament
(Tabernacle) that is set up in the Parish Centre.
Although things will be different, please know that we
remain committed to doing everything we can to have Mass
available to everyone, but to also protect our
parishioners, church staff, and clergy from infection. With
this in mind, the Archbishop wants to remind everyone that
we are still excused from the obligation of attending
Sunday Mass. This is especially important for anyone who
may be at a greater risk due to health or advanced age.
Online Masses will continue and are meant to be a source
of comfort and peace.
INFORMATION ON VOLUNTEERING
FOR MASS
We are in need of volunteers for all Masses.
DESCRIPTION OF VOLUNTEER JOBS:
All volunteers must wear masks and gloves while
performing their duties.
All volunteers must arrive 45 minutes early.
SAFETY COORDINATOR:
Assist the pastor in coordinating volunteers, in
maintaining order and security, and in responding to
emerging needs.
POINT OF ENTRY TEAM MEMBER:
Collect contact information and maintain appropriate
physical distancing. Ensure that the entry access door
is propped open until the start of Mass and the exit
door is propped open until all parishioners have
exited the church.
USHER:
Direct attendees to the available space in the pews to
ensure proper physical distancing between households,
manage seating and monitor occupancy, observe single
point entry and exit and manage seating and monitor
occupancy of the church.
CLEANING AND DISINFECTING:
Disinfect pews with spray bottles provided at the back
of the church. Disinfect high touch areas: doorknobs,
light switches, toilet handles, faucet and taps.
The capacity for each Mass is greatly restricted while we
celebrate Mass in the Hall.
You must phone the church to pre-register for Mass
or go to our website.
YOU MUST BRING AND WEAR
A NON-MEDICAL MASK TO ATTEND The Church’s alley entrance will open 30 minutes
before Mass. Upon arriving at the Parish, please ensure you
are 6 feet/2 metres apart from one another. We will then go
through the list of pre-registered parishioners and ask health
related questions before entry into the building. You will then
need to hand sanitize and an usher will take you to your seat.
The chairs are marked with physical distancing in mind.
Donations can be made on entry into the Hall in a
basket provided. Ushers will help maintain physical
distancing during Communion. There can be only one
single file Communion line. Members of the same household
need not observe physical distancing with one another during
the Communion procession. Communion will not be
distributed on the tongue at this time. Please use the ally
entrance washrooms.
After Mass, everyone must use hand sanitizer and exit out the
front doors.
We are in need of volunteers who are willing to be
Safety Coordinators, Point of Entry Teams, Ushers and
Cleaning & Disinfecting Teams.
Donation Options for weekly/monthly Contributions Parishioner donations support the operating costs of the
church, rectory and the overall maintenance of the Parish.
We are thankful for the many parishioners who have so
graciously donated to St. Mary’s Parish

Act of Spiritual Communion When we are unable to receive Holy Communion, we can make a Spiritual
Communion as we view a televised or online Mass. This is a prayer in which
we ask our Lord to come to us in the same way He would if we were able to
receive the Sacrament.
My Jesus, I believe that You are truly present in the Holy Eucharist.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I
cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually
into my heart. I embrace you as if You were already there, and unit myself
wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
Grace this Week Leader: Lord Jesus, we thank you for your Word. You
ask us to take up our crosses and follow you. (Matthew 10:38)
All: Lord, give us the strength to go where you lead.
Living in the Word ̶ ̶ It is truly beautiful to be a
Catholic. What begins at Baptism is a way of life that is
shaped by sacred teachings, strengthened by sacramental
celebration, and marked by loving service of neighbour.
When this life is fully embraced in faith, hope and charity,
it bears within itself the promise of eternal life! Is it any
wonder that I thank God often for the decision my parents
made to have me baptized?
(Archbishop Smith, Pastoral Letter, September 14, 2017)
Pope Francis Twitter
God created us for communion, for fraternity. Now
more than ever the pretense of focusing everything
on ourselves, making individualism society’s
guiding principle, has proven illusory. We have to
be careful! When the emergency is over we can
easily fall back into this illusion.
The Pope’s Monthly Intention You are invited to answer the Holy Father’s request and to
join with many people worldwide in praying for the
Pope’s intention each month.
For June: The Way of the Heart
We pray that all those who suffer may find their way in
life, allowing themselves to be touched by the
Heart of Jesus.
SINGING IN CHURCH
Congregational singing is a high-risk activity and is not
allowed during initial phases. Infected people can transmit the virus through their saliva or respiratory droplets while singing or
chanting. This prohibition in Stage 2 includes singing by a cantor or a soloist. We look to the future when restrictions ease and
allow us to resume song prayer in our parishes.
SOCIAL GATHERINGS
All social gatherings are prohibited in the churches. Social visits and contact between people of different households such as
hand-shaking or the sharing of communal items are not allowed.
Social visits outside the church may take place provided that proper physical distancing is observed and that these take place away
from high-traffic areas such as the designated entrances and exits and driveways.
Thank you for your understanding.
Parishioners and volunteers from demographic groups that are at a
greater risk of serious illness, such as people 65 years of age or older
and individuals with chronic medical conditions, are encouraged to
stay safe by avoiding public gatherings, but are not prohibited from
attending Mass if they so choose.
Anyone attending Mass does so at their own risk.
Mass Intentions are listed on our website.
FUNERALS St Mary’s is still able to help with funeral
arrangements and support if one of our
parishioners passes away. Please call the
parish office for more information:
