Activity 18 Gathering & Sorting Information The ability to scan texts will assist you to process information in your mind, and later on paper if necessary. SCANNING A NEWSPAPER A. Locate either a local newspaper or a national newspaper. Look at the front page.
What basic information do you get by simply reading, i.e. scanning, the headline and/or looking at the photograph with the article? ______________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________
B. Watch a morning breakfast TV show e.g. Today or Sunrise for approximately ½ hour. You will notice that there are several small sections of information given to the viewer i.e. news, weather, human interest, etc. Consider how the presenter establishes the importance of the information given in each segment.

Activity 26 Dealing with Change Many people find some type of change in their lives very difficult, however necessary, and positive, that change may be. There are various strategies that anyone could use to assist them with the change process. It is simply a matter of finding, then accepting, a method that suits the person and/or the situation. Consider a recent event or situation that required you to change something in some way. It could have been after a discussion with a friend or overhearing a conversation that changed your mind about a decision.
