AudienceSoap operas appeal to their audience by putting the characters in everyday situations (Though exaggerated). They also make situations it s rare anybody will be in just to make things interesting. They make it so audience can relate.

Genre

The Genre of most soaps is drama. They take a regular problem and exaggerate it to make entertainment for their audience.

Mise En SceneA French term meaning what is put into a scene or frame

Visual information in front of the camera

Communicates essential information to the audience

Made up of 5 elements settings & props, costume, hair & make Up, facial expressions & body language, lighting & colour, positioning of characters/objects within the frame

Representation

Representation in soaps is how the soap relates to reality.Soaps usually relate through characters and places so the viewer can feel familiar.For example the queen victoria pub in Eastenders and the hospital in Holby City.

Narratives

Narratives are basically the storyline of soap operas.The narratives of a soap opera are very obvious and continuous.They usually involve villains hero’s and dilemmas.

For our location we chose Paulsgrove because it represents everyday life better then in the middle of London or in a popular area

Genre

For our genre we have chosen a lower class theme but with a mix of characters from working class to upper class.
