The Smart Completion

What Is Smart Wells?

It is a well that has:

1. Control Down hole flow control

valves

2. Monitoring (PDG) Permanent down-

hole measurement gauges

Why Would You Want To Install Such A System?

The major value of the smart well solution is: The accelerated production You can increase total recovery The absence of a work over (reduce the operating

expenses) Increase reservoir knowledge Better manage uncertainties is reservoir analysis.

How Can We Control Down hole Flow?

BY: Down hole flow and pressure control can be achieved

through the use of interval control valves (ICVs)

ICV

ICV refers to Inflow Control Valve A valve system that regulates flow through it by

either hydraulic or electrical commands

Electro hydraulic Umbilical

ICV Vs. SSD

Current Application

Water or gas shut-off Commingled production Gas dump flooding

Water or gas shut-off

Commingled production

The use of ICVs to allow commingled production from zones with different pressures, through choking the inflow from the highest pressured zone with a continuously variable ICV, to avoid cross-flow to the lowered pressured zone

Bottom Hole Pressure (BHP) BHPs may be either:

Static, in which pressures are recorded with the well shut-in

Flowing, In a flowing survey the well is opened up to produce for a period with the gauge at the bottom of the hole

Pressures are recorded during the flowing or drawdown period, and subsequently during a shut-in or buildup period

Recording BHP provides information about the reservoir pressure, permeability around the well, Skin, and about the well's productivity

Permanent Pressure Monitoring System

Occasionally permanent gauges may be installed at the bottom of a well, connected by an electrical cable to a surface readout

Allows real time monitoring of bottom hole pressure without the need for down hole power, electronics or moving parts

.

Real time Surface Readout Gauge Electronic downhole surface

readout gauge is designed with state of the art surface read-out technology.

The gauge sends pressure and temperature data from downhole to surface in the real time basis through one single conductor cable

Side Pocket Mandrel Gauge

Side Pocket Mandrel Gauge utilizes our robust electronic design with silicon-sapphire technology to measure pressure and temperature by working as a gas lift valve.

The gauge housings are designed according to conventional 1” and 1.5” gauge , therefore, they can be set and retrieved by using standard side pocket mandrel tools.

Downhole Flow Meter

Downhole Flow Meter Venturi Spinner Passive Acoustic Optical Fibre

Down hole flow meter

The down hole Flowmeter provides accurate, real-time downhole flow measurement of liquid and/or gas

Down-hole water-cut meters and densitometers It is designed for permanent downhole installation

and is deployed as part of the production tubing during the completion

Down hole flow meter

The downhole flowmeter’s benefits include: Zonal production allocation Early identification of production decline Direct determination of the productivity index
