Why is Youth

Involvement Important?

The Importance of Youth Involvement!

- BC Angling Economics Report, FFSBC -

Aging Population of Anglers: 1995-2011 License

Sales for anglers between 16-64 dropped 21%.

Senior License Sales increased by 27%.

The Importance of Youth Involvement!

- BC Angling Economics Report, FFSBC -

Stocking Programs: Due to the drop in license sales

from $36 to $5, will lead to reduced stocking and

services.

Economical Benefits: Each Angler day is worth $142

per angling day to the BC economy!

The Importance of Youth Involvement!

- BC Angling Economics Report, FFSBC -

Some reasons why families are less engaged in

fishing:

- Time: Both parents are working

- Knowledge (Gap in generation, need for mentors)

- Perception of $$$$$$$!!!

- Our clubs put on multiple events

- During the events our members become mentors!

- Our clubs provide the gear!

Our Clubs Primary goals with the youth:

Endorse sustainability and conservation of our

fisheries and fish habitat.

Ethical angling practices & learn to respect our

natural resources.

Become good mentors and ambassadors as

sportsmen and sportswomen within the

community.

The Importance of Youth Involvement!

Our Clubs Recruitment Efforts for Youth &

Partnerships:

Actively Recruiting other youth groups and clubs:
