and personal goals, eachstudent must look at his/her

programfrom freshman year on,

selecting classes carefully.

Earning High School Credit

• One school year is divided into two

semesters

• Student takes 6 classes per semester

• .5 credit is earned per class, per

semester

• 3 credits possible per semester

• 6 credits per year

Credit can be lost if…

• Students earn a failing grade in a class (F)

• 9 or more absences are reached in one semester

Class Standing

Student must earn a minimum of:

• 5.0 credits for Sophomore status

• 10.0 credits for Junior status• 16.0 credits for Senior status• 22.5 credits for graduation

Any class in the Music Department, Art Department or

Drama, Advanced Drama, Visual Technology, Photography and *Video Production classes

* Some colleges will not accept video production.

Occupational

Any classes in Business Technology/Marketing, Family and Consumer Science, Industrial Technology and Visual Technology departments

P.E. and Health

• Essential Health and Fitness

Additional Requirements

• 60 hours Community Service• WASL/High School Proficiency Exam• High School and Beyond Plan• Senior Project/Culminating Exhibit• Washington State History

College Entrance Minimum Requirements• 4 years English• 3 years Social Studies• 3 years Math (through Integrated 3)• Senior Year Math • 2 years Lab Science (1 yr Algebra based)

• 2 years World Language• 1 year Fine/Performing Arts• Must pass three year-long college prep courses each year of high school

Support Classes

• Schedules may change based on individual academic needs. Elective choices will be replaced by your counselor.

• Examples of these courses include:READ 180, Support Math

Important Reminders

• Students are “reserving” spaces in classes and are making a commitment to take those classes.

• Minimal class changes will be made prior to the start of school to facilitate proper level placement or scheduling errors.

• Students requesting honors classes are making a full year long commitment to honors level work.

• If a requested class does not fit in a student schedule, an alternate will be scheduled (please choose alternate classes carefully)

Each student will receive:

• A 2009-2010 Registration Guide

• A registration form, pre-printed with required courses

• A list of elective courses for freshmen, showing class codes to be used on the registration form

Completed forms are due:

March 9/10, 2009
