their place and purpose within the SharePoint platform. You

Audience This SharePoint 2013 Administrator course is design for Administrators who are new to SharePoint Server Administration or who are upgrading from previous versions of SharePoint but with limited knowledge of the previous products. Technically-oriented students are expected to understand and/or be able to perform the following administrative activities:
DNS - Including ability to create alias records and records in the Hosts file. IIS - Create new Web sites, host headers, and work with site security.
Active Directory Users and Computers - Create new user accounts, reset passwords, and perform general user and group account activities. SQL Server - Have a basic understanding of how to apply permissions to a database. Windows 2008 Server - Have a basic understanding of Active Directory.
Networking - Have a basic understanding and the ability to assign IP addresses, host
names, and general connectivity issues

Module 0: Introduction
This module is a quick high level overview into the progression of SharePoint
2013 and what to expect in the modules during this course.
Module 1 - Architecture
With so many changes in many components in SharePoint 2013 we will spend
considerable time looking at the new architectural pieces of SharePoint 2013
and understanding how it all fits together.
Module 2 - Hardware and Installation
This module will look at the new hardware requirements and minimum /
recommended hardware configurations. It will also go through a step by step
installation of a SharePoint server and scaling out with multiple servers.
Module 3 - Farm Management
This module will be a tour of Central Administration understanding the various
configuration and category options and configuring some of the optional and
core components available such as Farm Solutions, Incoming Email, Logging and
managing SharePoint Administrators.
Module 4 - Web Applications In this module we will explore the new changes
to Web Applications and discover the creation and management of them in
both Central Administration and PowerShell.
Module 5 - Site Collections
There have been many new improvements in the hosting and management of
Site collections and in this module we will explore those new options in both
the user interface and in PowerShell.
Module 6 - Service Applications
In this module we will look at what is new, changed and depreciated in
SharePoint 2013 and the architecture behind some of these core services. You
will also learn how to work with multiple farm scenarios and how to scale the
services.
Module 7 - Application Management
A brand new Service to SharePoint 2013 that allows SharePoint 2013
Administrators to setup their own on premise marketplace hub and maintain
control of the Apps stored in it and those subscribed to from the Internet
Marketplace. In this module we will go through setup and configuration and
publish Apps into your SharePoint farm.
Module 8 - Social and the User profile Application
Microsoft has invested a lot of time into the social arena in SharePoint 2013
and this module will show the new architecture and how the new features are
setup and used. We will dive into the various components of social plus look at
how this profile information can be now replicated to multiple farms using the
new built in replication engine.
Module 9 - Search
This module will dive into the new architecture of the Search Service and
discover how the new components are configured and managed. You will be
learning about the crawl and query capabilities in SharePoint 2013 as well as
the changes from a user’s perspective. Finally you will learn about Search
scalability and how it now integrates with other services in SharePoint 2013.
Module 10 - Enterprise Content Management
A lot of investment has been made into the document management and
lifecycle process of items in SharePoint 2013 and in this module you will learn
what is changed, what is new and considerations for your internal business
processes especially around management and compliancy.
Module 11 - Web Content Management
In this module we will look into the configuration options available to us with
Web Content Management including cross site collection aggregation and
configuring Content Deployment and site variations.
Module 12 - Backup and Restore
This module will be looking at the options for backing up your SharePoint farm
and also restoring it using the built in tools and via the command line.
Module 13 - Upgrade
This module is concentrating on the options available for upgrading from
previous versions of SharePoint and some of the key design and planning
elements that need to be considered before starting an upgrade process. There
are new components to upgrade that make the process much better from an
end users perspective and will also be covered in this module.
