Setting up WAU Portal & Email Account (For New/Returning Students)

If you are a new student or have forgotten your username and password for WAU Portal & Email

service (Google Mail), you will be able to obtain/reset your password by following the steps below:

1. Go to http://www.wau.edu

2. Go to myWAU from the menu option on the top of the screen

3. Click Account Setup from myProfile (From the Sidebar)

4. Key in your SSN, Date of Birth, and Home Zip Code. (* If you are an international student,

see the note below)

5. Click Submit

6. If this is NOT the first time, you will be prompted to enter the secret answer that you have

initially entered. Click Submit.

7. Key in your Password twice to confirm it. (8 -12 characters, must contain at least one

UPPER case character (A-Z), at least one lower case (a-z) and a numeric (0 – 9). DO NOT

EXCEED 12 CHARACTERS.

8. You will have another chance to change your Secret Question and Answer. (Try to keep

your answer as simple as possible preferably in one word, note it down and keep it safe for

future use.)

9. Click Save

Congratulations! You have now setup WAU account which grants you access to myWAU,

WebAdvisor, WAU e-mail services. Wait for about fifteen minutes to get your account synchronized

in the system, before you check your email message from http://mail.wau.edu and login with your

username.

**It is your responsibility to make certain that you are receiving email messages from your instructors

and WAU Administration.

Warning: Do not try to guess your username and password. Five attempts with an incorrect password

will lock you out of the system. If it happens, you will need assistance from IT Department during normal

working hours.

Access to Desire2Learn:

New students will receive an email containing login information for your courses (only) via WAU

Google email system within 3 to 4 hours after setting up your WAU Portal account. At any time, if you

have forgotten your password for D2L, go to Desire2Learn login page, click Forgot Password and

follow the prompts carefully to reset your password.

International Students: While setting up your WAU portal account, remember to add two zeros (00) in

front of your student ID as your SSN. In other words, if your Student ID is 0123456 your you must enter

000-12-3456. Your Date of Birth and home postal ZIP code should match exactly what is recorded

in the system.

Faculty and Staff: Above procedure applies to new faculty, adjuncts and staff as well, even if you have

login credential given by Human Resource Office. Unless and until the account is set, you may not be

able to access WAU Google Email services and Desire2Learn.

Login to Desire2Learn

If your Professor is using Desire2Learn to teach your class, you will find your courses under MY

Courses. You will be able to locate your courses from the dropdown arrow near "My Home" mini bar on

the top of the screen, as well. If any of your class is missing in Desire2Learn, contact the Help-desk at

d2l@wau.edu. Remember to give us your Student ID (seven digit number) or WAU Email address and

the Course ID in question when you request for assistance. You are strongly advised NOT to send your

Social Security Number via email.

At any time, if you forget your password for Desire2Learn, you may

1. Click on “Forgot Password?” link from Desire2Learn login screen

2. Type in your username (without @wau.edu)

3. Click Submit

4. Go to http://mail.wau.edu, check the message and follow the prompts to reset your password

for Desire2Learn.

If you have any question or concern, please contact the Help-Desk via email at d2l@wau.edu. This is the

quickest way to get assistance.

If you are unable to access your email, WebAdvisor or myWau, most likely you have forgotten your

password for these services. You may go back to Account Setup and reset your password anytime (see

next page 1). If you are a new student, seek assistance from your Counselor.

If you have any difficulties accessing online course(s), offered through SGPS, contact your

counselor or the SGPS office at 301-891-4092. Your teacher may or may not be using Desire2Learn

to teach SGPS courses.
