THANK YOU
I would like to thank everyone who called, sent cards, and visited during my recent hospital stay and recuperation. I am feeling better and am anxious to see you all again.

A Thought from our Chapter Directors
Chapter Changes
Those of you who were at the General Meeting last week heard that Tracy & Sharon have agreed to become the new Assistant Chapter Directors. They will become your Chapter Directors when Kathy & I step down again. I know that everyone will pro-vide them with the same level of support that you have given us.
Additionally Jerry and Nancy have decided to resume their role as Public Rela-tions Coordinators. It is good to see them back as we felt they did an outstanding job in this position previously.
Change within the chapter is good and hopefully we will be able to have some new members step up and fill a position on the staff. All you need to do is to talk to one of us and we can help you select something that you are comfortable with.
September will start the rally season and we need to attend as many of these as possible. Many of the chapters depend on the money raised during these events to fund their treasury for a year. We are fortunate that we raise our money through triathlons and don’t need to host a rally every year.
Speaking of triathlons we have another one on Saturday November 14th. This is the same day as the Rider’s Fair in St. Petersburg. I will be asking all of our two wheeled riders to volunteer to work with us that day. The course is not wide enough to allow three wheeled vehicles to participate. I don’t have the exact number needed yet, but it will probably be about 16, this is how many we provided last year.
Don’t forget that December will be a busy month; a tentative calendar is on the website. Check this often and it will help you make your own holiday plans.

A RIDE TO OLD FLORIDA
The ride to Homosassa springs was very nice. Paul Began led the group of 5 bikes and Jerry and Nancy
Costel tailgunned. The early morning weather couldn't have been better. Tracffic was light so we had a
pleasant ride all the way up there. We turned off US19 onto the road down to the resort. This road was a
real pleasure to ride. A small road with many turns, slowly going down hill shaded by the canopy's of trees
on each side of the road. All the way down interesting old buildings and even the ruins of a sugar mill,
when we got down to the river, what a surprize! The surprize was seeing Florida, old Florida. Marinas,
resorts, baitshops, open air bars and that feeling of a small village with tons of summer fun.
After purchasing our combination river tour and dinner tickets we spent a couple hours sitting on an open
air second floor patio on top of the restaurant. This covered patio was very comfortable being shaded with
a light breeze flowing.
We relaxed by entertaining each other with each others company, the river was alive with all sorts of water-
craft going by. The time came for us to board a pontoon boat for the river tour. The was a large craft capa-
ble of holding 50 passengers.
We saw many large river homes, some old, some new. Fishing boats and docks that you can go purchase
sea food caught that day. The river has much to see, even porpoises. It was a nice ride and tour. The next
tour we will tour the other direction. You have a choice of which to see.
After our tour we went to eat. Everyone was very hungry being that some time had gone by since break-
fast. We had a choice of prime rib, chicken, or fish. The food was great, as well as the service, and a full
view of the river. You couldn't ask for more!
The ride home was uneventful and very pleasant. A little bit hot with the late afternoon sun.
We all had a great time in Homosassa Springs, and made plans for a return visit in the future. At about 35
dollars a person and gas this was a great ride.
The pictures on "our activities" say it all! Thanks Paul, great job!

ANOTHER PLEASANT PICNIC AT REDDY’S
(DESPITE THE RAIN)
Our August picnic at Reddy’s just goes to show that Chapter M can have a good time even in the pouring rain.
After we arrived at Reddy’s in the morning, it started raining so hard you couldn’t even see the other side of the lake. And it continued raining most of the day.
No matter — We had plenty of food and good friends, and of course a domino game.

BUSY BEES
We are getting into the cooler weather riding season and our northern friends also will be returning soon.
With that in mind watch the calendar for many future rides.
One reminder about loud pipes…..if you have them, Indian Rocks Beach police will ticket loud pipes on cars or motorcycles.
Very few FL 1M members will have that problem, however visiting friends may.
See you on the next ride or kick tire.
Thanks,
Betty & Buzz Probus
