Promotion Criteria

Level Criteria for Promotion Pass Failed

2N(A) Grade 5 or better in 1. EL & 2 other

-Promoted to 3N(A) -Promoted to 3E if student scores scored 70% or higher in the average for all subjects and deemed able to cope with the Express Course.

• One-year practice-oriented curriculum taught by respective polytechnic faculty

• Students will gain provisional admission in specific diploma course upon entry

• About 1,200 places or 10% of the Sec 4N(A) cohort set aside yearly

• PFP will be offered by all 5 polytechnics

Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP)

• ELMAR1B2 (English, Math, 1 relevant subject, Best 2 Subjects) raw aggregate score of 11 points or better (excluding CCA bonus points) at the GCE ‘N’-Level examination

• CCA bonus points will be used in computing the ELMAR1B2 net aggregate score for selection and posting

• Eligible N(A) students will be invited to apply for the Polytechnic Diploma courses of their choice upon the release of 2017 GCE ‘O’-Level results in January

Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP)

• Students must pass all modules in the PFP in order to be admitted into the first year of their pre-selected polytechnic courses

• Students who fail or drop out from the PFP can enrol in ITE’s Higher Nitec courses

OR

• Approach their secondary schools if they wish to pursue their ‘O’-Level examinations

‘O’ Levels

• Builds on the ITE Direct-Entry-Scheme (DES): – N(A) students who do well in their ‘N’-Levels can

enroll in the ITE’s Higher Nitec programme immediately after Sec 4

• DES-to-Poly Programme: – DES graduates who achieve the qualifying ITE

Grade Point Average (GPA) in their Higher Nitec programme will be assured of either a first- or second-year place in a related Polytechnic Diploma course

Direct-Entry-Scheme-to-Polytechnic Programme (DPP)

• ELMAB3 (English, Math, Best 3 Subjects) raw aggregate score of 19 points or better (excluding CCA bonus points) at the GCE ‘N’-Level examination

• EL ≤ 4 and MA ≤ 4, eligible to Applied Sciences, Engineering and Info-Communications Technology Higher Nitec DES programmes

• EL ≤ 3 and MA ≤ 4, eligible to Business & Services Higher Nitec DES programmes

• CCA bonus points will be used in computing the ELMAB3 net aggregate score for selection and posting

• Eligible N(A) students will be invited to apply to the ITE of their choice upon the release of their 2016 GCE ‘N’-Level results

Direct-Entry-Scheme-to-Polytechnic Programme (DPP)

• The PFP and DES-to-Poly(DPP) are intended to improve learning and progression options for the top 30% of each Sec 4N(A) cohort

• Number of places and options will be increased if the programmes prove popular and effective
