Searching for Existing AccountsUsing SIRSIDynix Workflows Search Helper

Do we have to search every time we register a customer?

YES

Expand the Users Wizard group, click the “Display User” wizard.

Keyword Search

The keyword search option allows you to search for a user by various fields in the user record such as name, email, street, and so on. The keyword search also allows you to perform a search for a user using multiple search options with the Boolean operators OR and AND.

Browse Search

• Browse search is only available for user’s names. If you select the Browse option, Name will appear shaded in the Index list.

Searching for Children

• Browse Search by NameLASTNAME FIRSTNAME

• Search by birthday and look for namemm/dd/yyyy

Searching For Adults

• Browse Search by NameLASTNAME FIRSTNAME

• Search by ALT IDChange the search index to ALT ID

Search Using X, T, AND I before the ID Number

What do I Do if I find an existing account?

• Inform the customer of an existing account

• Offer to update account with current information and remind customer that replacement cards are free

If the customer disputes validity of account request a signature

– Inform the customer we can request a signature check

– Advise the customer you will need to make a copy of his/her ID, and the (s)he will need to sign it

– Keep original application to contact the customer with the results

Request Signature Check

• Call Circulation Administration to request a signature check (832)393-2222 option 3

• Send Signed copy of ID to CIRC ADMINFax 832-393-1575 orEMAIL Circinfo@hpl.lib.tx.us
