What are the 5 species of Salmon?

The Salmon symbolizes instinct, determination and persistence as well as wealth and prosperity. Salmon is also a symbol of

abundance because the Salmon is the primary food source for the people of the Northwest Coast. It is also symbolic of

dependability and renewal representing the provider of life. Salmon in pairs is good luck.

Importance of Colour in Aboriginal Art

• Historically, the ancient art of Aboriginal colours consisted of 4 main colours:

-Black-Red-Blue/Green-White

In groups of 4, discuss where you think these colours originated from. In your group, can you think of any other colours used?
