Can you benefit from the new S7-1200 innovations?
New S7-1200 offers the following benefits over the S7-200Integrated PROFINET (Industrial Ethernet)
Reduces hardware costsMore functionality on the lower end modules
Not forced to buy more expensive controller for additional ports or analogReduces hardware costs
New I/O modules have stacked terminal blocksSaves space in the cabinetReduces panel costs
Removable connectors for all hardwareSimplifies Maintenance
More built in functionalityIncreased number of PID loopsIncreased performance and available memoryHigh Precision Instructions (64-Bit Real)
STEP 7 Basic - Integrated Software Environment for Controller and HMIReduces development costs

Integrating the S7-1200 into your Product Lifecycle
The S7-1200 product family will be launched in several phases
During each phase, more functionality/products will be added to the family.
It will take some time before the S7-1200 can realize all the application spaces that the S7-200 can accomplish today.
The S7-200 system family is an important part of our mainstream product range and the system will remain available as a mainstream product at least up to 2012.
If it is decided to phase out the S7-200 system, it will remain available as a replacement part and supported for 10 years following the phase out announcement.
