REX’S GREAT JOUNEY

On a hot day, Rex the jaguar was playing in a pool

of water in the swamplands near Arizona. Like

other Jaguars, Rex liked living in rainforests.

Rex was feeling hungry and like other

predators he needed to hunt for his own

food. Slowly the biggest and most powerful

cat of all moved fro

m the forest area

jumping over fences until he came to the

flat farming land where there were cows.

Rex has powerful jaws, powerful enough to take down a cow. In slow motion he was careful not to step on twigs to scare the cow away. He moved closer and closer

to the herd of cows, and then, he pounced

at the cow, but then the farmer spotted him and started firing bullets at Rex.

Scared out of his cat’s tail, he ran as fast as a

Ferrari back into the forest for protection.

Jaguars like Rex are endangered because of pouches, agriculture and habitat destruction. Farmers don’t like us eating cows, but we have to eat as well.

Still shaken by this experienced he thought it w

as time

he became protected. He found the ranger and asked if

he could protect him. The ranger agreed, and now like

many other Jaguars, he is now protected by the

government.
