Representing social groups within our media piece

Our Main characterWithin our piece our main character will be wearing clothing that suggests she is from a middle class family. The clothing will represent this because she will be clean cut and well presented whilst wearing some forms of jewelry to suggest she has slight wealth in her family. The concealed amount of makeup will also imply that she has a natural beauty about her. The blonde hair and tall physique will evoke a male gauze response.

Our main character

AntagonistThe kidnapper found in the sequence will be wearing all black clothing with a black mask. We have chosen this costume due to it allowing them to blend into the shadows as well as the mask covering their identity. Despite this, the clothing will be well presented; it will consist of a pair of black jeans and black hoodie showing signs of wear but not ‘dirty’. This suggests that they are not of the same class as the main character. In conjunction to this, his facial features and gestures will not be shown within the piece, leaving his social classes and characteristics up for audiences interpretation.

LocationThe location of our opening sequence will be based at the outskirts of a housing estate which will be shown in an establishing shot at the beginning. This showing some signs of wealth due to the size and vehicles found outside. With this being at the beginning of our coursework it will immediately set the scene and give the audience an idea of who and what social classes the characters are
