The Schemes of the Adversary

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls

around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him standing firm in the

faith…1 Peter 5:8-9a

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on

the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against

the devil’s schemes.” – Ephesians 6:10-11

Schemes and Strategies1. Satan will attempt to distort or deny the truth of

God’s Word.

2. Satan will try to discredit the testimony of God’s people.

3. Satan uses, defeat, depression, delusion and divisiveness.

4. Satan will work to dilute the effectiveness of God’s church through busyness.

5. Satan works through disbelief.

6. Satan devises specific plans designed for us.

7. Satan desires to control our mind through destructive thoughts.

THE STRONGHOLDS

OF THE MIND

“The god of this age has blinded the minds of

unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the

gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”

– 2 Corinthians 4:4

“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons

we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the

contrary, they have divine power to demolish

strongholds” – 2 Cor. 10:3-4

Locating the Strongholds of the mind:

- Hurtful Memories --Unforgiveness and bitterness - Lustful thoughts - Unbelief and doubt - Deserved Rights - Self-pity and Inferiority complex - Critical attitude/Judgmentalism - Blinding Schemes regarding Sin

knowledge of God, and we take every captive thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

“to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and

to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore each of you must

put off falsehood…” - Ephesians 4:23-25a.
