Our New Topic: Adventures

Our topic for this half term will be

Adventures. There will be lots of adventure

themed play in the classroom and our key

books will be: We’re Going on a Bear

Hunt, The Gruffalo and Handa’s Surprise.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope that you have enjoyed the winter break, we are pleased to welcome you

back for the first half term of the new year. There are lots of exciting things to share

about the next six weeks in school…

Reception Shopping Trip

As part of our work about Handa’s

Surprise, we will be going to the

supermarket to buy ingredients to make a

fruit salad in class. We will be talking

about the tastes and

textures of the fruit and

where the different fruits

come from.

Home Learning Stars

We would love to hear about what

the children have been doing at

home. Please feel free to take a

home learning star template from the

cloakroom or the classroom and tell

us about the activities you have been

enjoying. If you’re not sure what to

write just ask one of the Reception

team and they’ll be happy to help.

Homework

Thank you for all the hard

work that has gone into

supporting children with

their Learning Logs at

home. This is an important part in sup-

porting children in consolidating the skills

taught at school. We ask that Learning

Log challenges are completed every

week and they will be collected on a

Monday morning. Please be as creative

as you like with the homework—we look

forward to seeing all the wonderful

pieces that the children produce and

will share some examples in our celebra-

tion assembly.

Parent Activity Morning

We will be inviting parents and carers

into school on Tuesday 6th February for

a Chinese New Year activity morning.
