Recent ILCT Results & LCT Pipeline

The UCB-MURI, UCB-CISM, SOHO/MDI, SOLIS, & GONG Teams!

We have applied ILCT to IVM data from AR 9026, on 05 Jun 2000.

We have begun implementation of an automated “LCT Pipeline.”

• Pipeline runs as “cron job”

• Line-of-sight (LOS) magnetograms from MDI, SOLIS, and GONG are automatically downloaded as they come on line.

• In batch mode, IDL reads in data, spawns C version of LCT, and saves ouput.

• Results are automatically copied onto the solarmuri web server.

(NB: LOS data only permit analysis of pixels within 30o of disk center.)

All major barriers to implementation have been overcome, but some details remain.

• Deprojection should be done prior to LCT. Which mapping is appropriate? (Mercator?)

• What formats are most useful to end users?– Probably both graphical & numerical.– For numerical: ASCI, IDL .sav?

• Which output grid should be used? – Plane-of-sky coordinates?– Heliocentric? At what resolution?

For instance, a disparity exists between data sets’ size and scales interesting to users.
