SC.912.N.1.1

Designing a Scientific Investigation

When designing an experiment one should always use the scientific method.

The purpose of the scientific method is so you are able to track and make sure you are properly conducing an experiment

Also is everyone uses the scientific method we can evaluate the experiments using the same steps.

Scientific Method

Evaluating a Scientific Investigation

In order to evaluate a Scientific Investigation one must ask oneself a few questions

How well was the experiment done? How can the experiment be improved? Is there something you can do to test for

other variables? Also you must question the experiments

validity.

Analyzing Data

This is the process of interpreting the meaning of the data that has been collected.

When analyzing data one must look for things like patterns, what the graphs tells you, who could use the data, how could one use the data, and why is the data shown in the way shown.

Analyzing Data to Make Predictions

Data analysis is extremely important when making when making predictions and developing new ideas.

When you perform a data analysis you are then able to make a prediction after analyzing all the patterns and reasons why the results are those.

Analyzing Data to Defend Conclusions

It is necessary to analyze data in order to defend your conclusion.

To make a valid statement and point one needs accurate data to defend ones conclusion.

Compound Microscope

Dissecting Microscope

Scanning Electron Microscope

Transmission Electron Microscope

Evaluating the Merit of Scientific Explanation

The evaluation of something's merit is when you review the worth and significance of a subject or scientific experiment.

To properly evaluate the explanation produced by others there is a set of guidelines or scientific standards set which one should follow.

Reliability of Information

There are a few things you can do to test the reliability of scientific information.

One of the things you can do if testing an experiment you can repeat it to see if you get the same results.

When testing other information you must follow set standards.

Scientific Interferences Made From Observations

In science an interference is a conclusion or hypothesis made from observations of data.

These interferences can be made from sampling data or data collected.

These interferences can become theories that can than be tested till proven wrong.
