RANCH AT BRUSHY CREEK
MEET THE NEIGHBORSThis family was featured in the November cover, but we had a publishing
error and the description was wrong (October cover picture). Layne and Lauryn Henderson have lived in the Ranch at Brushy Creek
for most of their lives. In 2010, they moved back to Texas with their parents, Jason and Angie. The girls attend Hill Country Christian School and together enjoy music, swimming, gymnastics, dance and league volleyball. Their love for life and for each other comes from the strength and devotion to faith, family and fun.
Jason is a Senior Vice President with Bank of America, managing banking centers in the Austin and surrounding area. He holds a BBA in Finance from University of Texas and is originally from Brownwood, TX. Angie is the Global Travel and Meetings Manager for Apple, based here in Austin. She is a graduate of Texas A&M and holds a degree in Marketing and Journalism. Angie is originally from Corpus Christi. The Henderson family enjoys traveling, family dinners out, going to the movies, and spending time with the great friends they have met in RBC. Photo by Erica Woodford Photography

Periodization is “ the systematic planning of athletic or physical training. It involves progressive cycling of various aspects of a training program during a specific period.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_periodization).
Periodization is often overlooked, but yet is instrumental to a successful fitness effort or training routine in order to avoid overtraining and injury, avoid boredom and frustrating plateaus of improvement and to drive continual gains safely and intelligently.
Ever wonder why your daily run of X miles at Y pace is no longer yielding results for you that it did before? Its due to the body’s adaptation to exercise and need for change.
Competitive athletes of all types strictly adhere to the periodization strategy that leads up to a major event or competition. Non-competitive athletes as well can greatly benefit from planned, cyclical changes in our training to continue to have fun with it while achieving or exceeding our goals!
Periodization to Reach Peak PerformanceSome examples of planned changes you can incorporate into any
routine based on your goals and personal capacity and limitations include changes in:• Rest time between reps / sets• Number of repetition, sets, laps• Speed• Frequency• Duration• Resistance• Order / type of exercises
There are general resources that can help you on line, but an in-person resource like a coach, running club or experienced fitness enthusiast may be best suited to help you create a periodization plan best for you! Renee Geist

A FEW HOLIDAY THOUGHTS...It is good to be children sometimes, and never better
than at Christmas, when its mighty founder was a child Himself.
Charles Dickens
There are two ways to live your live. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though
everything is a miracle.Albert Einstein
The way you spend Christmas is far more important than how much.
