To provide practice of listening for specific and detailed information.
T explains to the Ss that they are going to watch a video (Festivals in Britain 6 8 ESL video) about interesting celebrations in Britain. Ss first tick the celebrations in ex 1 they think will be mentioned in the video.
T says: Listen to the following video, what celebrations do they mention? Check your answers. Then compare with a partner.
Video available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jXKtoc85Pc
T reads the instructions from the worksheet (appendix 1, ex 2) and makes sure Ss understood they have to give short positive or negative answers following the example.
T plays the video and Ss listen to the information and answer the questions individually.
Ss compare their answers in pairs and after checks them with all the class. T asks for volunteers to share the answers.
T plays the video again and Ss work individually and complete the chart by matching the celebration with the dates they are celebrated and with the activities done on that day according to the video. They work in groups of 3 to compare and discuss their answers.
T checks the answer with all the class. T asks Ss if they agree or disagree with their partners´ answers.

To provide written and spoken practice of the language of the lesson
T divides the group in groups of 10. Then, T pastes on each wall a set of 4 cards (Appendix 2) each one with a Colombian celebration. Then, T organizes each group into pairs and gives each one a card that contains a descriptive statement of one of the celebrations.
T gives Ss 2 minutes to decide which celebration each card refers to. Then, a student from each pair goes to their wall and pastes the card in front of the celebration they chose.
Once each card is placed, the groups of 10 evaluate if the information is in the correct position. In case that someone does not agree with the location, he/she lets the teacher know, who will help him/her if the card should be moved.
When all the cards are in the correct position, Ss work in groups of 4 to prepare an oral presentation of one of the celebrations in the exercise assigned by the tea-cher. T monitors the work and helps Ss.
Then, half of the students rotate visiting their classmates and in this way, each one presents the celebration.
Finally, Ss express their opinion about which of the celebrations presented they found the most exciting, boring or interesting.
For the next class everybody must bring a picture of his/her most important family celebration.
