Program Note
Three pieces have individual features. The first one depicts leisure time in a rural area. I think
woodwinds are proper choices for creating idyllic scenery. The second encompasses two distinct themes.
For one, the theme is rhythmically jumping. The vigor is brought out at irregular accents and changing time
signatures. For the other, the English horn sings the solo melody which bears similarity of the rural area
back in the first piece. The melody then transfers to flute. When the first theme recapitulates, more
strength is placed this time. The coda combines both themes. For the third piece, the simple time and
compound time signature alter. The melody in simple time is at slower pace while the one in compound
time is vivacious.
