Quick Guide for Sentry NB4 Kit
Standard Sentry NB4 is configured for 4x12V, 1 string battery applications.
For 8x6V application, unit can be used to monitor every two batteries.
For 2x12V, factory customization is required.
Depending on order details, unit may be shipped with option parts such as current transducer and
harness. (Temperature sensor is included by default.)

By default, unit comes with DIN rail mounting clip.
Magnet mounting is optional. (Remove the protection washer before mount it to cabinet or rack.)

Installation Steps
Before installation, you shall have:
1) Active Ethernet port on site. 2) Ethernet CAT5 or CAT6 cable. 3) Sentry NB4 unit 4) Current transducer 5) Harness for battery connections. (Make sure the O-ring size is correct for battery post/bus
connection.) 6) Insulated tools to work on battery posts. 7) A laptop or a computer which can connect to the same network
Step Description Check
1 Secure Sentry NB4 unit onto the battery shelf/rack/cabinet.
2 Run Ethernet cable for Sentry unit.
3 Sequentially number each battery with a label. (#1 is from the positive
(+) bus)
4 Switch off the breakers to disconnect the battery string from the power
system.
5 Install the CT to the battery cable between 2 batteries, with the CT
directional arrow pointing from negative post of one battery to positive
post of the following battery.
6 Install the harness to the batteries. (Choose M6 or M8 O-ring for
most battery models.)
7 Power on Sentry unit. Run IpSetup.exe program on another
computer to search unit. Set static IP address, mask and gateway.
8 Launch Sentry web page, check the current zero point, and adjust
the current offset (calibration setting) if necessary.
9 Re-connect the battery string back to the power system.
10 Check data from the MyBattery Platform web page.

IP Setup
Use “IPSetup.exe” to search for a device in the local network. The IP may sometimes be set to static. If
dynamic is needed, set all numbers to “0” as below. The DTU will reset back to DHCP.

Data can be accessed from Sentry’s web page.

Access Data from MyBattery Platform
Data is reported to MyBattery platform which can accessed from anywhere with internet.
A secured user account will be assigned for user(s).
Without login, you can still check the data availability. Make sure the update time is correct.
