Guru Shree Shantivijai Jain College for Women is founded
by Shree Mahaveer Jain Kalyan Sangh (Established in
1967), a Voluntary Charitable Jain Association, dedicated to
the cause of education and social upliftment. The college is
named after the great Jain Saint Yogiraj Guru Shree Shanti
Vijaiji Maharaj of Mount Abu (India) to mark the memory of
his birth centenary celebration. We embarked on a mission with
a goal of imparting qualitative education to young women,
inculcating moral values and instilling confidence in them.
Regular Day College was started in the academic year 1991-92
and Evening College in the academic year 1995-96. This is a
Self Financing College approved by the State Government &
Affiliated to the University of Madras. It is also established and
administered as Religious and linguistic Minority Institution.
The college aims to provide an excellent academic
environment to augment and accelerate learning in students
and reveal their inner talents & potentials. A unique learning
experience is provided through which the students acquire the
sterling qualities of leadership, courage and truthfulness and
become the torch-bearers with a noble mission in life.
We have evolved the distinct methodology of teaching to
achieve this objective. We maintain high standards of excellence

Application forms for admission are available at college office during
working hours on payment of Rs. 100/- each for Day & Evening College. No
separate registration Fee.
Submission of Application form for Admission after Plus Two results :
As soon as the Regular Plus Two Results are announced, the duly filled in
Application Form with Attested +2 Marks (even internet printout is acceptable),
alongwith Xerox copy of Community Certificate (only for BC, MBC, SC/ST
students) of Tahsildar is to be submitted and Registered at College office, within
a week’s time.
Personal Interview & Original Certificates:Only the Provisionally selected candidates will be called for interview;
however receipt of the interview letter/card does not guarantee admission.
Interview communication is sent by post/courier service.
Candidates when called for personal interview after provisional selection
will be required to pay First year fees along with admission and University
Resigtration fees, etc. immediately after selection and hence have to come
prepared with D.D. towards the payment. Request for either deferring the date
of interview or payment of fees, etc. shall not be entertained. The decision taken
after the interview will be final and request for a change of group will not be
entertained under any circumstances. No intimation will be sent to those who
are not selected for interview.
Applicants who receive the interview letter/card must appear before
the Principal / selection committee on the date and time indicated there in,
necessarily accompanied by their Parent/Guardian.
They should produce the following certificates in original, at the time of
interview.
Admission Guidelines

(i) Transfer certificate from the school last studied with X Std & XII
Std Mark Sheet.
(ii) Conduct certificate from the school last studied.
(iii) Community certificate from Tashildar/Deputy Tashildar (only for
the candidates belonging to BC/MBC/DNC/SC/ST communities).
Students from other State Boards must produce:
(i) Migration Certificate
(ii) Course certificate from the Principal or Headmistress of the
school last studied.
(iii) Original Mark Sheets, transfer certificate and conduct
certificates.
(iv) University eligibility certificate.
Candidates who fail to appear on the date and time of the interview
or appear without any of the above certificates will have their selection
automatically cancelled. Interview alone does not guarantee admission until
it is approved.
Selected candidates should pay the Admission Fee, Annual Tuition &
Special Fee, etc. immediately after the admission is approved. All admissions
are made provisionally at the discretion of the Management, subject to the
approval by the University of Madras.
Important Instructions to Students : All original certificates including
community certificate produced at the time of admission will be retained at
the college office and will not be returned under any circumstances till the
student leaves the institution. They are, therefore, advised to take adequate
copies of all the certificates for keeping with them before submitting
the originals to the college. Those who want to Register at Employment
exchange can do so before submission of application form for admission.
Payment of Fees : Fees will be collected on Annual basis at the end of
every Academic Year (during Feb/March) for the next Academic year and
includes Tuition, Lab & Special Fees, etc. Apart from this, University Exam
Fees have also to be remitted. No refundable Deposit/Caution Deposit/
capitation Fees in any form is collected. Hence parents are requested to

make all financial arrangement for prompt and full payment of fees and
not depend on scholarship after getting admission. The management is not
resposibile if the student suffers due to late or non payment of Fees by
parent which may please be noted carefully.
Withdrawal after Admission : A student who has once enrolled and
paid first year fees for a course is expected to complete the course and must
not withdraw from the college. If a student wants to leave the college, she
is liable to pay the entire course fees with special fees, etc., that is due for
the entire period of 3 years.
Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Application
for extension of time for payment of fees will neither be acknowledged nor
considered.
The college authorities reserve the right to revise the tuition and other
fees at the commencement of each academic year whenever considered
necessary.
Note : This college is self-Financing and does not receive any Financial
Aid or Grant from the Govt. University or UGC. Being a Charitable Institution,
the Fees charged is very Nominal to meet recurring costs and Financial
Commitments to Faculty & Staff. Hence, withdrawal after admission leads
to Budgetary loss with no compensation from any source. Therefore Parents
& Students must help the institution by completing the Degree course and
protecting from any loss incurred otherwise.
Commencement of First Year Classes : Classes will commence tentatively
for the First Year students of the Under Graduate courses during the second
or third week of June 2009. However the exact date will be notified later.

Tests and Examinations
Periodical Tests and Examinations are conducted regularly and
Attendance for each Test and Examination is compulsory. All students are
expected to take their class tests, monthly tests, terminal, revision and model
examinations without fail. Absentees will be viewed seriously.
Dress Code
Every student shall wear decent and modest dress and not wear tight
fitting dresses, sleeveless tops, short tops, tights and transparent flimsy
clothes. They are expected to uphold the moral values and standards of
life. Jeans/Tight fitting pants are not permitted inside campus.
Mobile Phones
Usage of Mobile Phones is banned in the campus and those violating
this will be heavily penalised, apart from confiscation of Handsets. The
confiscated mobiles will not be returned.
Ragging
Ragging is strictly prohibited. If any incident of ragging comes to the
notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given opportunity to
explain and if the explanation is not found satisfactory, the student would
be expelled from the institution.
Attendance & Leave of Absence
Every student has to attend College regularly and punctually on all
working days. A minimum of 75% attendance is necessary so as to become
eligible to appear for the University Examination. Students who are recipients
of any scholarship should put in 90% attendance and those students who

do not have enough attendance shall not be permitted to appear for the
University Examination.
As per the University Rules, students having less than 50%
attendance (even on medical grounds) are not eligible to continue
studies in the next Semester, and hence will have to be given Transfer
Certificate.
Any student who wishes to take leave will have to send the leave letter
duly countersigned by the Parent or Guardian. In case the leave is due to
unforeseen circumstances the leave letter should be submitted immediately
after returning to the College. If the leave exceeds 3 days without valid
reason or prior intimation or a proper leave letter signed by the parent,
severe disciplinary action will be initiated against the student. If, however,
the student is genuinely ill, a Medical Certificate should be produced.
No student is permitted to stay away from class after coming to College.
Students are forbidden from leaving the College without an outpass signed
by the Head of the Department and Principal.
Regular attendance to classes, library and Physical education hours is
expected of all students. Students abstaining from classes without prior
permission will be dealt with very severely.
Attendance is compulsory for students on all important days such as
Independence Day, Republic Day, Sports Day, College Day, Annual Inter
Collegiate Seminar day, etc. and all College functions.
The college expects every student to uphold the discipline of the
College both within and outside the college premises.
The Role of Parents
Parents are requested not to absolve themselves of their responsibilities
once their daughters are admitted into the College. They must ensure
that their wards attend classes regularly and take tests and examinations
regularly. Academic Progress Reports are periodically sent to the Parents.
They are expected to peruse the report and sign. The parents are expected

to take care of their wards and see that their academic performance is
good. Their academic performance throughout the year will be given extra
attention and care in the College by the concerned staff and the parents
are requested to keep in touch with the college in this regard. Parents are
requested to go through the Rules and Regulations of the College carefully
before seeking admission for their wards. They are required to sign the form
of undertaking which is a part of the Application Form for Admission.
Students who lack the required percentage of attendance and
performance will not be allowed to write the University examination as per
the University notification. No request or appeal from the parents will be
entertained in this matter under any circumstances. They must keep in touch
with the Principal and Faculty Members regarding the continuous progress
of their wards in studies and their general conduct and behaviour. Parents
may also contact the Principal on any matter concerning their wards, with
prior appointment only.
It may be noted that ours is a Jain Minority institution and so
would have specific religious Holidays and observe rules protecting the
Religious sentiments. Non-Vegetarian dishes including eggs are strictly
prohibited within the premises of the college.
Earnest Appeal
Only those students who are serious about their future career and
fully convinced about the campus environment, code of conduct, rules and
regulations of this college are requested to apply and get admission in this
college. Please do not waste your money, valuable time and our efforts, if
you are not sure of getting degree here, thereby helping your deserving
sister to get educated and shape her future.
Parents are specially requested to give personal attention and suitable
advice before taking your joint decision about the course and the college.
