PROJECT 1: ‘FILE CARDS OF ORDINARY PLANTS’
You are going to make three file cards about plants that you can find around you (trees, plants in
gardens, plants from agriculture: tomato, pepper, potato, onion, wheat, barley, vine, olive tree…)
On each file card you’ll write:
.– Common name.
.– Scientific name.
.– Descripction of the plant.
.– Picture, leaves… from the plant.
.– Plant care: watering, temperature…
.- Location, uses...
.– Other information…
Here you can see one example about the tomato plant, and you can do similar file cards.
Common name: Tomato plant
Scientific name: Solanum lycopersicum
Description:: Species originated in South America. It was
spread to Europe and the rest of the world by Spanish colonists
since the discovery of America.. It’s a green bush with yellow flo-
wers that produces red edible fruits.
Plant care: It needs water every two days to grow and pro-
duce fruit. It also needs direct sunlight.
Location: All over the world.
Uses: It’s used as a food product because it’s edible . I’s used in
salads, fried tomatoes, tomato sauces… and in lots of récipes
around the world

PROJECT 2: ‘OUR GARDEN’
1.- In groups children are going to make a garden using plastic bottles.
2.- They can plant herbs like peppermint, parsley, thyme… or other different plants tomatoes, or
ornamentals, and take care of them in the class.
3.– Children must look for information about the plants they have planted.
Children can get more ideas about gardening
from internet.
