Author Eleni Priovolou visits our school.

On September 24th, author Eleni Priovolou was invited to our

school by 6th grade.

She talked to us about how she became an author, her work experience and the way she

starts writing as well as ending a book.

In this way, we would get ideas on how to write a story titled

“Travelling through Europe” for our Comenius project.

She told us that she decided to become an author because

when she was young, there was dictatorship and she was not able to express her opinion.

Her teacher, her parents, the policeman of the village as well

as the priest were her role models and, that is why, she was

writing whatever she could not express with words.

Her first book was “A pathetic fool” and she wrote it at age 21

when she was pregnant with her son.

She has written twenty five books for children and five books for

adults..

In 2010 she was honored with the Readers Award of EKEBI for her novel «The way I wanted

to leave”.

She needs three to four years in order to write a book about adults while she needs two to

three years to write a book about teenagers.

She also talked to us about how carefully we should choose the

books we read.

Students listened to her carefully.

We learnt many useful things during her visit and the

experience was unforgettable. We were very glad to meet her

and discuss with her.

She promised that she will come back to our school whenever we

invite her.

We took photos altogether.

Some of her books are the following:

1. Guards of stars

A group of children from different background discover common things: their love for knowledge

and learning, nature, horses and stars. In this way they discover

the similarities of their civilization and the common origin of their

myths.

2. The signal

Young Nikolai from Ukraine is a talented violinist and dreams of

playing the violin all over the world. Because of a family problem, he

leaves his village but his journey is full with obstacles as well as

music…

3. Captain Life

Ewa is not willing to move to a faraway island with her

parents…but in this island she meets Life, a true captain of life

and, together, they travel through dreams and

adventures..

Other books of hers are: “Victoria-the girl who flies through the

clouds”, “The way of the blue moon” and others. She has also

recently written a book titled “Together” along with other

authors. The topic of the book is school violence.
