CURRICULUM MATTERS During September, AIMSweb Math Assessment was administered to all students at Upi. These scores are used as a baseline for this school year, students will be tested during the middle and end of the school year to test their aca-demic growth in math. The charts show the percentage of students who tested at, below or well below the bench-mark for their grade level.
Fifty percent (50%) or more of the students in first, second and fourth grade performed at or above benchmark for Math computation. Sixty-six percent 66% or more of our first grade students performed at or above benchmark on all four Early Numeracy skills. You may contact your child’s Teacher or the Curriculum Coordinator if you would like to know how your child scored on the test, or if you have any questions about the data or your child’s progress.
Have a Great October!

This month is Red Ribbon Month and with the planned activities to promote being
drug free, remember that the way to BE SAFE in your community is by being a
responsible citizen and reporting any crime that you see.
We were able to have a visitor from the Crime Stoppers program inform our
3rd-5th graders how to report any criminal activity that they see at their bus stop,
school, or community. Remember that any information reported to Crime Stoppers
is anonymous and your identity is kept safe. Totots don't forget to Be Safe and
Responsible by keeping our school and community a place where crime is not
tolerated.
Hafa Adai, Totot Parents/Guardians. One of the celebrations for October will be RED RIBBON MONTH. This is a campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs, and promote a healthier, safer Yigo & island. There will be several activities that you can get involved with your child(ren): The theme is "I LOVE ME, I'M DRUG FREE!
* Help design their ribbon; make one for each member of the family: Wear your red ribbon
October 27—31st.
* Talk about how Yigo & our island will be a better place if we were a drug-free community
(less crime; happier families).
* Join us on Oct. 30th—Simon Sanchez High School Nursing students will perform a skit in our
cafeteria: • Grades: Kinder thru 2nd; 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.
• Grades: 3rd thru 5th; 9:00 - 9:30 a.m.
* Help your child learn the Drug-Free Pledge:
I pledge to stay in school and learn the things that I need to know.
I pledge to make the world a better place for kids like me to grow.
I pledge to keep my dreams alive and be all that I can be.
I pledge to help others and to keep myself drug free!
* Oct. 31st - If you have time, please join us for a fun & healthy exercise routine in the parking lot,
or cafeteria if it rains.
Thank you for continuing to be an active parent/guardian. You make a big difference in your child's life!
