AR TIME — INTERVENTION / ENRICHMENT
AR Time Intervention and Enrichment has begun and will continue through the end of the
quarter, Jan. 29.
Students assigned to Intervention are required to attend their assigned class Tues. - Fri. from 10:55 am-11:25 am.
Students assigned to Enrichment get to choose which resources/activities to do during the 30 minutes of AR
Time. They may attend one of the virtual resources/classrooms available or do independent study. This is a great
opportunity to do homework, work on projects, connect with teachers or get extra help in class.
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Happy New Year! As we leave 2020 and all the opportunities it provided, it is exciting to
begin 2021 and all of the hope on the horizon. Thank you to everyone for your responses on our
parent survey concerning “What your choice for school would be when we are finally allowed to return to inbuilding
instruction.” This will allow ARHS to construct a schedule that will work whether we are in Distance Learning or a Hy-
brid Model. Remember, ARHS and the ASD will continue to be in a 3-period a day quarter system no matter the for-
mat. That means there are 4 weeks (19 days) remaining in 2nd Quarter. Quarter 3 (New classes) begin on February
2. Now is the time to help your students with the final push to be successful in classes. At the end of January, if your
student passed all classes both Quarter 1 and Quarter 2, they will have 6 classes of credit and be on track for gradua-
tion. If for some reason they did not, please contact a counselor ASAP to begin to put together a plan to help them get
back on track. Again, thank you for your support of Auburn Riverside and your student. We are going to get through this together!
INCLEMENT WEATHER
Due to our Distance Learning model, ASD schools will remain in session during snow and/or
dangerous driving conditions. At this time, we are not relying on transportation for students’
education. Thus, there is not a need to cancel school due to the weather. Please be sure to note this is different from
years past.
INTERNS WANTED - JUNIORS & SOPHOMORES
Are you looking for a job in Information Technology? The time has come to
organize/collect applications for our Annual Jr. Intern Program for the 20-21
school year. We are revising our program to support our Distance Learning format while allowing
students to experience a real life technology support environment. Please submit cover letter,
resume and references to tdudley@auburn.wednet.edu before January 13, 2021. For more infor-
mation check out the ARHS web page.
DID YOU PURCHASE STUDENT PICTURES?
If you purchased school pictures on the 2nd Quarter Textbook Pick up day,
they have arrived at ARHS. They are available at the “Pick-Up” window that is
to the left of the Main Entrance here at Auburn Riverside between 7:30am and
3:30pm Monday through Friday.
ARHS Key Club helped the Latino group from
Olympic MS along with their advisor, Pilar, with
a food drive and also collected toys for Toys
for Tots for local families. What a great after-
noon of service for these students!
SUPPORT for QUARTER 1 AP CLASSES
If your student had an AP class in Quarter 1 there will be optional sessions outside the normal school day to support their continued
learning during Quarter 2. These sessions are not required and any work suggested will not be graded for a grade book or impact your
student’s Quarter 3 grade. However, they are highly encouraged to prepare your student for their AP Exam in May. Days and times of
optional sessions are listed on this link. If you have any questions or concerns please email Ms. Leonard at sleonard@auburn.wednet.edu for assistance.
Thank you!

THE YOUNG READER’S CHOICE AWARDS (YRCA) - FREE BOOK!!!
The Auburn Public Schools Foundation wants to get books into the hands of students here at ARHS. The foundation has awarded our
school $1000 to encourage students to participate in reading and voting for their favorite read off of the Young Reader’s Choice Nominee
List. The Auburn Public Schools Foundation will purchase at least 1 book off the list for any students who want to participate in this fun
event. This purchase is a gift to the student (that they can keep) to encourage the love of reading. The Young Reader’s Choice Awards (YRCA) started in 1940 and
is now sponsored by the Pacific Northwest Library Association (PNLA), Readers living in Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana and Washington nomi-
nate books and pick the winners.
How to participate:
1) View the slide presentation which includes information about each book (including book trailers).
2) Choose a book(s) from the YRC 2021 Book Award Nominee Google Form!
3) Cast your vote using the 2021 YRC Ballot Google Form. Voting begins March 15th, 2021 and goes until May 31st, 2021.
Have you read an awesome book that you want to suggest for a future Young Reader's Choice Award? Nominate a favorite read for next year’s award (2022).
