TRANSCRIPT

June is here and with it brings the end of an-other ASPE operating year. This past year brought many interest-ing meetings, events and technical sessions for our members. We had a tremendous turn

out at our annual Product Show, as we headed back to the Sam Houston Race Park. We were able to hold many AYP events in an effort to get our younger members more involved with ASPE as well as several techni-cal workshops throughout the year to further enrich our Chapter members.

As the new operating year begins, I would like to congratulate and wel-come the incoming Houston Chapter Board of Directors (as elected by members in attendance at our May general meeting):

VP Technical: Donald Taylor / HOK

VP Legislative: Gwynne Morrison / Morrison Plumbing Design & Drafting,

VP Membership: Chris Ennis / De-tection Suppression International

Thanks to all the members who con-tinually volunteer their time and efforts to the advancement of our Houston Chapter. For those that are inter-ested, we’re always looking for mem-bers to help with planning events, such as our Product Show, or help with tasks like maintaining our website or becoming future Board Members! If you or somebody you know is wanting to get involved with our Chapter please do not hesitate to contact any of the Houston Chapter Board of Di-rectors with inquiries.

Lastly, this month will be our annual joint meeting held at the Local 68 Plumbers Union Hall with ASSE and IAPMO. This year’s meeting will take place on June 21st starting at 5pm. BBQ will be served and there will be an open bar as usual! Cost to attend is $10 (cash only) and will be collected at the door.

After June, ASPE will go on its usual summer break. Please make sure to visit our website for information on all upcoming Houston Chapter events!

Our next ASPE Houston General meeting will be held on September 6th. The Presentation will be on PEX manufacturing processes, installation guidelines and application. The 2017 ASPE National Technical Symposium is fast approaching. This year the event is being held in Mont-real Canada on October 19-22. Reg-istration is now open. Go to http://2017tech.aspe.org/ for more details.

We’re still looking for a November 2017 Lunch speaker. Please remem-ber that ASPE is a great way to ob-tain CEU’s and network with many of the most knowledgeable people in the plumbing industry. If there is a topic you would like discussed please let me know and I will try and set some-thing up. There are openings avail-able to be a presenter at one of our upcoming lunchtime general meet-ings. If you are interested in present-ing at any of these events please contact Donald Taylor your new VP Tech at Donald.taylor@hok.com

It’s been a whirl-wind spring, or should I say soggy spring. Hopefully with the school year behind us and the summer fast approaching all of these extreme

rainstorms will stay away. Now we just have to watch out for the mos-quitos’…

I want to thank Kevin Freeman with Town & Country Plastics for last month’s presentation on Acid Neu-tralization & pH Control of Chemical Waste. I also want to thank T&C Plastics and PMI Sales for sponsor-ing lunch for all Engineers and de-signers in attendance.

I want to thank everyone for all of your help and support these last two years while serving as the ASPE Houston VP Technical Representa-tive. As you know I will now be serv-ing as the Chapter President for the next two years. I appreciate every-one’s confidence in my abilities to lead the chapter. I will try to grow and promote our Houston chapter going forward and continue to offer educational as well as promote the plumbing industry as whole.

Please remember our next meeting will be a joint meeting with ASSE and IAPMO at the Local 68 Plumber’s

WELCOME TO OUR NEW ASPE HOUSTON CHAPER PRESIDENT MR. DAVID CLARK, P.E. I know Dave will lead us in a very professional way while having some fun along the way.

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. Com-ing up we have our joint meet-ing with ASSE. A little summer break, throw in a vacation or

so and we’ve got a packed summer. I hope you have a fun and safe summer.

Membership FAQ;

Q-How can an associate of mine join the Houston Chapter?

A-That’s easy! Go to https://aspe.org/Membership , click on On-Line ASPE Mem-bership Application. Completely fill this for out, chose your method of payment and Welcome!!

Q-Will I be notified on my pending member-ship drop?

A- The first notice actually goes out 90 days before your expiration date and the final notice goes out the same month of your ex-piration date.

Q-How can I make sure my membership doesn’t lapse?

A- Sometime after your first notice and be-fore your “Drop” date go to https://aspe.org/RenewMembership , sign in and follow the prompts. It takes about 3 minutes and too easy not to do on line.

I hope this little bit of information is helpful. Re-member to stop me when you see me, call me, or email me with any questions or comments you may have. C.Ennis@FireDSI.com

Please remember if any of your pertinent informa-tion has changed that it is your responsibility to no-tify ASPE National and The Houston Chapter. You’ll want to do this in order to remain on our mail-ing list.

VP Membership: Christopher Ennis, CET

I will be contacting all those who qualify for their ten-ure pin to be presented to them at our next General meeting. If you are a recipient of one of these prestig-ious pins, please be sure and plan on joining us for your dubious recognition.

Membership delinquent list: If you are on this list, or know you haven’t paid your annual dues get ready to receive a phone call from one of the Board members. We don’t want to see you go!!
