Potential Scope/Solution Site/Location
New School 9th-12th Grade 1,800/ 2,000

Other
Outdoor Athletic & Rec. Fields
New Stadium for Football, Soccer & Track, New Tennis Courts, and New Baseball and Softball Fields at New High School
Auditorium New Auditorium Included at New High School Existing Auditorium to Remain at HHS
ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
Provides opportunity for a more state of the art school- better technology, lab access, additional course options, environmentally friendly, etc.
All new construction
Less traffic congestion
New auditorium
Grades 9-12 will have more extracurricular options
Keeps current grade level structure at the HS.
Having centralized competitive athletic fields.
Separating the population into competitive Middle Schools
Have and have nots with two Middle Schools
Site TBD
Too expensive
Would add more space than the enrollment projections indicate for the long term.
High cost for athletics
Keeping 9th Grade in HS (age spread is too great)
COMMENTS This is the only 9-12 option and supports current High School academy structure
High School needs more tech
The centralized fields, specifically a field house is an absolute must.
This is really quite a deal if people step back and look at the big picture; we need to stop short changing our children.

Other
Outdoor Athletic & Rec. Fields
New Stadium for Football, Soccer & Track, New Tennis Courts, and New Baseball and Softball Fields at New High School Site
Auditorium New Auditorium Included at New High School Existing Auditorium to Remain
ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
Site for new school determined
Grade configuration seems positive for students
Keeps school centrally located in the community
Fixes overcrowding at both HS & MS
Less grades per school and the need for competitive athletic fields located at the HS are a must
Not enough space the site is already too crowded and would increase concerns related to parking and traffic
3-story school creates challenges for people with mobility disabilities
No room for expansion if needed in the future
High cost for athletics
Lots of transitions for students
Dislike elementary recess so close to a HS
COMMENTS Is there enough land to add all that is needed for a high school?
Better idea leave 8-9 at MS so it is next to new high school and move grades 6-7 to the current high school.
Could the MS just be added on to rather than build a separate new high school? This seems to provide plenty of space based on projections.
I dont mind the location, but would vote NO because it is not a 9-12 school.

Other
Outdoor Athletic & Rec. Fields
New Stadium for Football, Soccer & Track, New Tennis Courts, and New Baseball and Softball Fields at New High School Site
Auditorium New Auditorium Included at New High School Existing Auditorium to Remain
ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
Having a new high school that can be designed in a way that supports current programming
New auditorium and athletic fields that keep us competitive with other school districts in area
A newer/high-tech campus will keep student in Hudson and draw new families to the district
Pride of the community
Mechanical, electrical, and technical infrastructure taken care of at the HS
Provides extra space if needed for expansion
Site TBD
9th graders not having access to HS activities and athletics
Too expensive and doesnt fully utilize existing space
Too many transitions
Pouring money into the current HS is a waste, it should be razed and a new HS built on the current site
COMMENTS Hard to fully understand the ramifications of this option with knowing the site, infrastructure needs, traffic safety, water,
sewer, etc.
Think about a new site that doesnt create more congestion
Will administrative office building be sold and move back to one of the schools?
Is there a way for the school and city to collaborate on athletic field complex?
Need to get this decision right because we will be using this new building for the next 50 years

Other
Outdoor Athletic & Rec. Fields
New Stadium for Football, Soccer & Track, New Tennis Courts, and New Baseball and Softball Fields at New High School Site
Auditorium New Auditorium Included at New High School Existing Auditorium to Remain
ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
More age/developmentally appropriate age groupings
Less transitions
Population of MS & HS smaller
More community feel
Starting from scratch with a new HS can do state of the art approach
Extra space for expansion if needed
Less expensive than 9-12 HS
Site TBD
9th graders not having access to HS activities and athletics
Dont like having 2 competing MS
Dont like 6th graders with 9th graders
Too expensive and doesnt fully utilize the existing space
COMMENTS Sell unused UU property
This option makes a lot of sense
Focus on having enough space for students to learn and teachers to teach rather than how grades should be split and or combined
Take into account parent and student traffic and congestion and convenience
Worst option

Other
Outdoor Athletic & Rec. Fields
New Stadium for Football, Soccer & Track, New Tennis Courts, and New Baseball and Softball Fields at New High School Site
Auditorium Upgrades to existing auditorium
ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
Provides new sports facilities
Keeps students together in same school - no competing schools
New high school
Utilizes existing space well
Cheaper high school to build
Would provide new opportunities for the students who most need them as the prep for life beyond high school
Grouping 8th graders with 10th graders
How would 9th and 10th grade work with HS activities and athletics?
Doesnt make sense academically
Feel like the 9-12 HS is the option the community favors
No new auditorium
The idea of an 11-12 HS seems silly is there an example of other schools using this configuration?
Too expensive and doesnt fully utilize existing space
COMMENTS Weird grade configuration
Sell unused UU property
Where do HS students go during renovations of current HS?
I feel like our HS should be at least 3 grades if not 4. You get a better social experience!
Really dislike the idea of an 11-12 high school!

Too many transitions
Complicated renovations and updates to existing site
No new auditorium or sports complex
Upgrades to HS does not meet current HS curriculum/21st century learning

ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
Use existing district-owned land
HS is 9-12
Helps with MS overcrowding
More centralized
Important to use what we have, renovations can be creative
Renovations can easily meet the space needs.
Solves overcrowding issue at MS, but still doesnt address overcrowding at HS
Significant renovations needed at HS
No new auditorium
Patch work solution
Two Middle Schools not practical
Parking at HS is limited
Having onsite water and septic
Splitting into 2 MS requires duplication of resources and staff
No room to expand at the HS if needed for potential future growth

Newer building with more technology for older students
District-owned site
Minimized duplication of resources
Good age grouping/grade configuration for students
Helps overcrowding at MS & HS
Too many transitions
How will 9th graders participate in HS activities & athletics
We need a new HS, auditorium and more fields to serve the population at our schools
Piecemeal approach
Current HS is too small and ill-equipped
We should put the majority of our money where is most important - HS
COMMENTS Hate the UU property!
Sell off the unused portion of UU property
We are concerned about doing what is best for kids developmentally what is the best grade configuration?

ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
UU site is suitable for elementary
Buses not cars at UU
In direction of new growth
Allows MS more space
No lighting requirements for elementary
Keeps HS centrally located
Most cost effective not as educationally effective
Uses what we already have
Remodeling current HS is a super job
Current Prairie may not convert easily to MS houses
Athletic fields still off-site
Low priority to HS issues; such as parking, disruption to learning, etc.
We dont want to spend $86M to renovate an old HS its a waste
We dont need a new elementary school. Makes no sense excess capacity already exists in elem.
Creates disruption at elementary level
Does not solve space issues at the HS
COMMENT Is scope of HS remodel enough?

ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
Should have lesser cost than new building
No need to find a new site
Great idea! Largest classes in district are already in high school; space is eased by attrition in a few years anyway.
Keep costs down, use flexible learning. Not all high school kids need to be in the same building at the same time.
Problem of space doesnt really seem to be solved
Piecemeal, band aid approach. Dont like it. Waste of money
Does not use the excess capacity at the elementary level.
No real solution here we dont have enough room for them to learn.
We need a new High School, auditorium and more fields to serve the population at our schools
COMMENT Families will continue to pull students out of the Hudson School District to attend communities that invest in education.
Consider additional options to deal with traffic relocate parking, consider multi-level parking, overpass for pedestrians
We deserve better this option will not serve the needs of our high school students long term

ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
Good utilization of existing space, considers decrease in elementary enrollment
More cost effective
This would solve space problem at the middle school, but I still feel the existing high school even with renovations would be too small.
Redistricting is very emotional and controversial; what if growth occurs that is not expected?
Doing a band aid fix wont solve the long term problems
Doesnt address core of MS & HS
Dont want bigger grade schools
HS is land locked need more parking and want fields and high school together
We need a new high school
COMMENT Is there capacity at the elementary schools to actually do this?
The athletic fields should be a separate bond issue.
Issues we have in the district are not at the elementary level. Why would we focus our energy there, and upset a system that is working?
We deserve better.
Home owners around HP wont support this option losing a school students can walk to.

Least disruptive for students, faculty and community
Would solve space issue at MS
Sixth graders are ready to leave the elementary school environment and enter the MS
Concern with additional transition
Reconfiguration of school population is disruptive
Creates HUGE problem of space at the elementary schools
Doing a band aid fix wont solve the long term problems
