PRIMARY PROGRAM ELEMENTS PRIMARY FEATURES SPATIAL DIAGRAMThe Port of Entry option envisions Blue Lake Park as a learning landscape — a stepping stone where people have new experiences and learn new skills that can be used while exploring Metro’s other parks. In this option, a boardwalk promenade acts as the spine for the park’s major facilities, activities, and programming. Weaving its way along the lakefront, the promenade brings visitors to the water for fishing, paddling, sunbathing and people watching. This design also includes a 40-mile loop back channel multi-way path, a combined Paddling Hub/Park Office, a practice disc golf area, four rentable camper cabins, a massive net climber, and an overhead zipline feature. Other features include picnic and open lawn areas, relocated parking at the park’s perimeter; multi-purpose fields for pick-up games, spaces and amenities for large events, built-in boardwalk features such as lounging nets and a climbing wall, a variety of active play and exercise experiences, and looped trails. Site amenities such as signage, restrooms, bike parking, picnic tables, benches, and waste/recycling receptacles will be sited throughout the park wherever appropriate.

• Activity Hub• Activity Areas• New Boathouse• Lakefront Swimming Pools• Lake House Gardens• Amphitheater• Water Feature• Play Areas• Picnic Areas• Open Lawn Areas• Warming Huts at Wetland/Disc Golf
PRIMARY PROGRAM ELEMENTS PRIMARY FEATURES SPATIAL DIAGRAMThe Day in the Park option envisions Blue Lake Park as a place where people can use park facilities and partake in park programs each day of the week, all throughout the year. In this option, the existing Concessions Building becomes a major activity node where elements such as badminton, bocce balls, kites, horseshoes, frisbees, hammocks, balance bikes, croquet sets, and sand and water toys can be checked out for everyday use. Swimming and wading are allowed and the piers and docks have been refurbished to become enclosed, lakeside swimming areas. This design also includes a new Boathouse and food cart concession area, an expanded west side forest, a practice disc golf area, and the Lake House Gardens (which are available for rent). Other features include picnic and open lawn areas, relocated parking areas at the park’s perimeter, spaces and amenities for large events, a variety of active play and exercise experiences, and a looped trail system. Site amenities such as signage, restrooms, bike parking, picnic tables, benches, and waste/recycling receptacles will be sited throughout the park wherever appropriate.

BLUE LAKE PARK
The Natural and Cultural Life option envisions Blue Lake Park as a venue for bringing people of all backgrounds together around the core concepts of food, agriculture, nature, cultural expression, and music. Using the form of a flowing river to connect spaces that support a range of activities, this option is distinguished by a large community garden area, a destination natural play area, a music garden, a technology-free contemplative zone, picnic spaces with specialty ovens/cooking facilities, aquatic gardens, and a signature water and circulation feature that meanders across the site and reveals water in a variety of ways. Other park features include flexible open lawn areas, relocated parking areas at the park’s perimeter, spaces and amenities for large events, a variety of active play and exercise experiences, and a looped trail system. Site amenities such as signage, restrooms, bike parking, picnic tables, benches, and waste/recycling receptacles will be sited throughout the park wherever appropriate.
